  • Just thinking,

Just watched TV3 News and John Judge knew what was coming, he looked like he was having a heart attack just watching Nick Smith dig the whole for himself.

  • Just thinking,

Cycling should be a normal mode of transport, not a cultish fashion parade at high speed.

  • Sacha,

nobody carried out due diligence on their ability to deliver

Pretty sure they did. Audit Office rep involved throughout the process. Someone obviously spun a jolly good line over-estimating their competence.

At least it seems the agreement must have had the right clauses to let the combined DHBs put their own quality team in and even to claw back the contract scope for non-performance.

However, like others I don't understand how it can possibly cost $4m more to substitute an established provider for a relinquished part of the contract. Aussies benefit either way, and less money to spend on other DHB services in the Auckland region. Grrrr.

Personally, I wear jeans, t-shirt and sneakers when I cycle, but I'm aware that does place limits on how hard I can go. The way I see it, when I'm on a bike it's like I'm walking, whereas the hardcore are like joggers.

  • Just thinking,

I've been passed by joggers when riding my bike.

And that steam bike might have a problem going around the bends. But hey it'll cook diner too.

Agreed. These people think so too. There's a policy oriented version by the same guy, but the emphasis on people who wear normal clothing is incredibly important.

Don't that look like a far more comfortable, less competitive, form of transport just because there was no uniform attached to the mode of transport. Now if we just flatten a few hills.....

And we have our own local version of European bicycle chic'ness... and guys, if you feel like throwing on a frock, feel free to do so...

I'm all for 'flattening' hills... now if we could get some of that money that Joyce is sloshing around given generously by the pixies at the bottom of the garden, we'll be sweet....

Who's up for a trip to Spain? (Spanish TV news clip of bicycle tunnel-pretty neat)

  • BenWilson,

and where will the dog fit?

A dog can either fit in the carrier, or run along beside.

Now if we just flatten a few hills

Get an electric if you're not cycle-fit. They're not really that expensive.

Those people don't have hamlets on.

Perhaps they have insurance? One of the downsides of state funded insurance is that the state gets to tell us to wear a stupid looking hat all the time.

Sounds like fun. I could throw in a trip to
Bribiesca at the same time. It's just down the road from San Sebastian.

  • Sofie Bribiesca,

    @Ben
I used a bike every day of every year of my secondary school years (even through snow!) in Auckland. I then used one that I brought back from Oz to NZ later in life. When I stopped, was when I wanted to. If I wanted to use a bike again I think it would be a Motorbike, just because I have never had one and I like them.

Snow being such a common feature in Auckland. Endless blizzards, every winter.

    Here's a link to Spanish Cycle-way dividers

    It's down the bottom.

The picture didn't take, but the Spanish road/cycleway deviders look like Rugby Balls sunk into the road.

I would like to think the whole thing comes down to a prank by the siblings... fingers crossed for the kid if that is not the case.
