Hard News: Friday Music: It all leads to a disco fiesta

  • Hugh Wilson,

Murray Cammick's exhibition AK 75-85 is on in Sydney, and there are some great photos in there. I really like the Bob Marley shots at the old White Heron, and theres one of Opdiner/Simon Grigg at the Windsor Castle too (pic 11).

Prints are A$900 (ex. GST) ... I would love to get one or two, but felt the prices were pretty steep!

  • Greg Wood,

You don't need to win Lotto to get hold of a mirror ball... $34.50 from Surplustronics and maybe another $10 for a D-cell motor. I have one above my desk!

  • EE,

Lourde releasing another track just before "Friday Music" comes out ... coincidence?
The song is OK but I prefer Vivaldi's original.

The integrated sub is more important, but my dream is a one-touch disco – just press a button and it all emerges.

It was a bit like that at the opening of Murray's Fast Cars show – all his friends turned up and had a great time and none of us were flush enough. But the gallery sets the prices and it seems there are buyers ...

  • Mike O'Connell,

and it's really worth another look

Certainly was! What a fab re-find. Silly me, I never went to the gig at the time but watching it just now, it felt I was there. Chris Knox is in great form and love that Cale rendition of Heartbreak Hotel.

  • Russell Brown,

Lorde's very impressive performance of 'Liability' on Saturday Night Live:

  • Russell Brown,

And a lower-fi clip of 'Green Light' on SNL. Is this the first time Lorde's performed with conventional backing singers, as opposed to her own canned vocals?

  • Adrian Humm,

Liability sounds great. Bowie/Mott the Hoople influence?

Even if it was spelt incorrectly in the caption. TBH I have no memory of that at all ;-)
