  • nic.wise,

Jeru the Damaja just got it totally wrong and spent the next hour and a half loudly and painfully dying. If he'd just shut up and rapped a few tunes ...

Perfect Oro summary. Lots right, some things wrong, some things SO SO wrong (above). I'd go back, even without underworld.

  • Ian Dalziel,

Next Saturday, the 22nd, is Record Store Day

…and it’s also Earth Day – to be marked in Chchch
by a Pro Science March at 10am

It is time to ‘Stand Up for Science’ Christchurch!

    Saturday 22nd April – 10-11:30AM – Earth Day

We invite you (Scientists, Science students and Science supporters) to march from outside the Canterbury Museum, down Worcester Street, to Cathedral Square with us.

Once we arrive, there will be a few speakers and then we will disburse. The mission is to express to our community, our government and our world that we will protect Science and evidence-based research and facts.

We are also marching to support those who are being negatively effected by attacks on Science in the U.S and all over the world. We are marching to show that we support and value Science in our lives and that we will stand up to protect it.

This will be a peaceful march, we will not be focussing on how we don’t all necessarily agree on everything each other stands for, but on what we do agree on: the importance of Science in our lives.

Me too. I think it's really got potential.

Imagine The Flaming Lips headlining !
They would be startling in that setting.
They were startling doing their colourful psychedelic thing last year outside under Edinburgh castle, to 40 thousand people mid summer in the never ending Scottish twilight.

Yeah, and it would bring in a whole extra crowd.

Even though some of the acts didn't work for me, I get why they were programmed – you bring in a legendary hip hop artist, he brings in a chunk of people – but I reckon they could go wider yet.

Dave et al actually fought pretty hard behind the scenes to get this show to happen. But they've done it once and their iwi partners are keen for more. This could be pretty special.

Allowing, of course, for weather. They got a beautiful evening this year, but even 24 hours either side might have been trickier.

  • Tim Michie,

Does anyone have John Clarke' s 'Hide and Seeky Bird' off Fane Flaws children's album please? Such brevity; such wit; so appropriate for him to deliver.

I just watched Canadian band Preoccupations on the Coachella live feed – never heard of them before but I did enjoy them – a joyous noisy band (more Gordons than Echo and the Bunnymen) – and their taste in teeshirts is impeccable!
The drummer had a Verlaines tee and one of the guitarists had ‘my’ Flying Nun ‘eyeball cherub logo’ tee on!

    @ Sacha and Russell
I'm chuffed to see it beyond these shores and coming back at us - but I'm thinking it is even better exposure/validation for Flying Nun.

I'm hoping Lorde goes across well - just to stick it to all the meathead haters in the Stuff comment sections at the moment - between the stories about her and Sonny Bill Williams I am gobsmacked at what people think they can say 'anonymously' - if it's their opinion they should own up to it.

    . . . Stuff comment sections . . .

Where almost everyone seems to be attempting to out-moral-pygmy one another in some kind of audition for the Small Blacks.

Congratulations on your graphics achieving escape velocity.

I don't know of this - whats the album?

Did pick up Fane Flaws "I am Joe's music" album a little while ago, which Audioculture notes was " purportedly Mushroom’s worst-ever selling album" (they also characterise it as "utterly unique"!).
