The Black Angels, off new album Phosphene Dream. Unsurprisingly, these guys sometimes act as backing group for the rehabilitated Roky Erickson.

  • Kyle Matthews,

Not very Friday, but I want to refer people to this email by Duncan Woods sent to Brian Edwards in response to comment he made on the sentence given to the killer of Nayan Woods a few days ago.

A wonderful statement of humanity and parenthood I thought. Recommended reading for a time when being upset is OK!

  • TracyMac,

♥ Ladi6. Glad to see the new album out; as you say, the last was pleasant, but underwhelming.

I can't begin to imagine the grief this family feels and I'm genuinely humbled by the grace of Duncan Woods.

Agreed. Absolutely amazing statement from a very compassionate man.

Duncan and Emma are wonderful, wonderful people, and I'm glad that their compassion and understanding has got attention for a change, rather than vengeance-screaming. Also, Duncan teaches at Unlimited, and has a pretty good grasp on what works with teenagers and what doesn't.

Emma, I should have noted Emma too as I assumed both agreed to the content of the correspondence Duncan signed.

  • Just thinking,

Jared in Christchurch got his RedFeds poster in this book. It'll look good on the coffee table I'm sure.

  • recordari,

In line with earlier musical collaborations.

Download track here, if you want it.

Of course the original by Platinum Blonde was an 80s... what? yeah, something.

Do blondes really have more fun?

  • Russell Brown,

Genuinely the end of an era:

Dunedin's Records Records is open for its last day tomorrow.

That shop has a special place in the history of New Zealand music.
