What happened at the music vid shoot?
It ended up working pretty well, with a few dandies getting coiffed and made up for the video, while most people just watched Grayson play. Stuart Page reckoned it was Warholesque.

I'm confident the tailoring was immaculate (almost got round to tweeting big ups to Strangely Normal while Russell and Simon were apparently on stage).

It didn't really occur to me until it was done how ambitious we'd been, but it worked.
One thing I loved was the absolutely bangin' video projection. I had been keen from the start to be very visually driven in the stage presentations, and those big screens really did look brilliant. That's been the big advantage of doing it in partnership with the Edge -- it just took the production to a whole new level.
But we basically had the production nailed before everyone arrived. The real test was of the ideas the collaborating artists brought in, and of the audience's willingness to embrace them. And they did.
Dylan and Emily were able to capture the playful, exploratory style of their comic on stage. And the clamour for pieces of the Maughan-Askew work, each freshly-sawed piece snapped up as it was brought out, was amazing. Karl Maughan was having a wonderful time charging around with a big marker signing the backs of everyone's boards.
And Simon, as I said to you last night, quite a few people voiced their appreciation of your interview to me afterwards. It was funny and thoughtful and wise.
One of the security guards reckoned we had 550 through the door. And today, I am taking things very quietly.

BUT, and that's a big but. Auckland City should be ashamed of itself. With he current debate about our drinking culture I am appalled, appalled I tell you, at the lack of food available after midnight in our "World Class"? City. As far as the eye could see, on leaving the Civic, there were food places closing or closed WTF?. A world class city needs more than a pie cart to feed the masses, I noticed there was no shortage of places you could buy alcohol and what is is with the bloody Star Marts? how many of those do you need in one place?.
I, for one, doubt that I will be venturing into our "World Class" city centre until the next Great Blend.
Hurry up Russ, we're waiting.

Wow. Faces, names, in the same place. It would have been even better to enjoy the presence of these wonderful people, but the photos are great all the same!

That is making me green with envy, I was rudely joining the #ogb stream while I was otherwise engaging in Welly (Twitter: enabling rude biatchz since 2006).

Personally, I would like there to be a "great blend" of just PASers. No speakers - just some cool music and a cool venue. I appreciate that getting someone to pay for it all is the name of the game, but I am pretty sure we could find someone to sponsor us all chatting. Cos that's the thing about these events. I so enjoyed hearing from Simon - I thought your interview with him was fantastic. Really warm. And I liked seeing Dylan and Emily in action. You did a great job Russell, bringing all these divergent people together. Much as you do here, really. But. But I just want to talk one on one or one on three with all the interesting people that frequent PAS. People who I have a connection with.I was listening to Megan and Geoff talk about the media last night. About what they do. And I thought, I want this. I want more of this. In person. Or maybe that's just me.

OMG, Giovanni is obsessed with Twitter!
The new PA design vaguely resembles the design of twitter.com, but looks nothing like Tweetie or Tweetdeck or Twitter for iPhone or many other ways of using Twitter.
But twitter.com vaguely resembles the design of many other community/forum websites, including the current Public Address and current PA System.
It looks like a change for the good.

On Twitter, I held the Annual General Meeting of the Original Gangsta Bytchyz, which grew to be a collection of people who were unable to attend the Orcon Great Blend, due to matters of geography, biology and even geology.
It didn't really occur to me until it was done how ambitious we'd been, but it worked.
Ok, so I expect something at least this ambitious for the Wellington OGB and even more ambitious for Christchurch, because that city deserves a show.

Yes but you also have to show up. Which is not that easy, that I have noticed with PASers, plus people in the flesh, seem quite different than on line.Although I don't think so once they open up a bit. Anyone here own a pub?
