  • Amy G. Adams,

I'd second that! All this global warming stuff has us all conned! Fortunately, we have conscientous objectors, Ph. D's and upright environmentalists (including those who'd previously been invited to lend their names to these so called scientific committees, including those associated with the UN) who'd felt that the contention is not backed up with hard science and is speculative and unsubstantiated!

It is now alleged by these consclentous scientists in "The Great Global Warming Swindle" (Channel 4) and in other Fora, that these environmental NGO's have just slapped together data that they have twisted and massaged to suit their ends.

Yes, we are lonely voices in the wilderness against these Greenies, who'd sell their soul for funds and grants, and very often covertly, from industry.

Why, the Friends of the Earth alone has offices in 68 countries. A study of the FOE International Annual Report is instructive. 15% of their funds come from subs whilst the balance comes from govt. subsidies and grants. What they have conveniently left out is the amount of donations received from the uninformed public.

Read the book "The Internal Combustion" for the conspiracy by the oil industry and even govt. agencies to kill the electric car.

What raised our hackles is this concerted attempt by these NGO's to spread disinformation, untruths and lies to kill off palm oil, an oil that is basically good, productive and useful to mankind!

The reason for this? Let me paraphrase something from the preamble of a press release from FOE: "This is an oil that has overtaken soy as the most productive edible oil in the world. As consumer awareness about healthy eating and ethical shopping grows, palm oil is an increasingly popular alternative to trans fatty acids - more closely associated with heart disease - and is found in one in 10 supermarket products including margarine, baked goods and sweets, as well as detergents and lipsticks."

"There has been much soul searching among environmentalists because palm oil is also in demand for biofuels, seen as one of the best ways of reducing dependence on fossil fuels and so combating global warming. Palm oil is currently considered the most productive source of biodiesel fuel, and Indonesia and Malaysia account for 83 per cent of its global production."

I know that some of you may consider this rambling, but the only resource that I have is this pen. However, what these dishonest Environmental NGO's (I have to stress that not all of them are) have not had to contend with is that the power of the net enables conscientous objectors like us, small, unappreciated and lonely as we may be, to make our objections heard, unlike in the past (such as in the electric car scenario). Silence from all of us amounts to complicity in this gross act of injustice.

All I ask of all of you, is to study this matter as impartially and objectively as you can, educate yourself and if your conscience moves you, write to your govts. and demand that they stop contributing to these NGO's until a full audit of their expenditure is done!

  • Amy G. Adams,

I'm sorry if I offended you Riddley!

Whether I am one or a trinity, remember that even Jesus was crucified as a rabble-rouser! If you are filled with conviction and believe in the truth and justice, it really doesn't matter too much if you are accused of working for vested interests. Of course, it is easy to accuse, but have it ever crossed your mind that there are people who'd work for a cause without the need for any percuniary incentives? I am not suggesting that I can even stand in the shadow of a comparison to Jesus, but anyone believing in a cause would have my energy!

I can understand your scepticism, but if you were to juxtapose my campaign against the forces arraigned against me, you would, hopefully also understand. Remember, it wasn't us who tried to run you out of town!

Sure, you can call me a republican neo-con fascist, whacko or any other abusive epithet that you can think of, but that would not matter the slightest jot to me or veer me off course!

  • Amy G. Adams,

Chill out Riddley! Looking at your adorable gravatar, I suspect that you are really a teddy bear at heart - warm unless riled!

My sincere apologies once again! Can we drink to that, imaginary Shiraz or whisky?

  • Amy G. Adams,

Speaking for Robin, as he's incapacitated (or excommunicated, if you will), apologies are also due to Russell Brown and Merc.

This is not meant to be an excuse, but you will all recall that Robin was immediately put on the defensive from virtually the first post. The series of posts by Robin should be taken in the spirit of spontaneous and vigorous repartee!

I'm sure Russell, who may have been peeved initially, would be the first to admit that that was so, fair minded as I'd always believed him to be.

In any event, apologies again to anyone who may have taken offence, as no offence was ever intended!

  • Doris Parker,

"Why do I post in a forum where most disagree with me? I can't think of anything more boring than an echo chamber. It is good to see other perspectives and have your views challenged. If that pisses some people off, then that is a shame; however I believe that it says more about them than about me. I saw at least one comment from someone who appreciated the back and forth from different sides of the issues; I am sure that there are others as well."

"I stress that I do not want you to stop posting or leave - that's not what I'm saying at all. But if we're only 'right' if we discuss things related to our own direct experience, what's the point of any discussion at all? That way lies madness."

A little copy and paste from your other threads, contents self- explanatory. We're happy to leave! Guess we know now who are the real republican neo-con fascists and hard core hypocrites! So long Russell Brown! Poof!
