  • 81stcolumn,

I will wave cheerfully at any driver who just about ploughs into me because they are gabbing on their cellphone, and I will smile at cyclists I just about wipe out because the morons have just run a red light.

<chuckle> With age comes wisdom indeed so even handed in your displeasure. Please smile at any fool you can catch running a red light. Happy new year.

"I will watch to the bitter end any television programme in which Peta Mathias takes us to some exotically foreign country to indulge her passion for its food."

She's both attractive and repulsive at the same time. It's like watching an accident - you can't turn away...

  • Geoff Lealand,

It is not an original notion but I usually resolve that the best NY's resolution is to make no resolutions. Resolutions have more chance of success--more resolve--if you make them on your birthday (coincidentally for me, next week), or April 23 or any other arbitary date...

In defence of cyclists, keep in mind that we are always more vulnerable that car drivers. I have been road-biking for a year or more and spend much of my time avoiding broken glass--which may explain the swerves and meanders we make, on busy roads..

To follow up the offer of Q magazine, I have a considerable collection of Uncut sampler CDs which I am willing to parcel up and post. Such samplers can lead to discoveries--I first heard a track by Arcade Fire on one, and fell in love (I have bought a ticket to BDO, just to hear their one hour set!) I tend to put these samplers straight on to my iPod, so I am willing to pass them on--just email me at <lealand@waikato.ac.nz>

  • Amy Gale,

I forgot to make a resolution. So, next year I will resolve to make a proper resolution in future. In 2010, I will actually make a proper resolution.

"I will go to a movie starring Lindsay Lohan, Brittany Someone or one of the cast of Desperate Housewives."

hmmmm what are the chances of such a movie coming out sometime this year? Lindsay's too busy getting arrested all the time, Brittany Murphy hasn't made a film in ages, and Desperate Housewives is beginning to lose its hype. Maybe you can check out Paris Hilton's new film, I hear it's going to be a sci-fi fantasy musical war film :)

  • InternationalObserver,

My NY resolution was not to post on PAS this year. Seriously.

I will go to a movie starring Lindsay Lohan, Brittany Someone or one of the cast of Desperate Housewives.

__Hostel 2__ is out on DVD, starring not one but two cast members of Desperate Housewives. And lots of blood.

The BDO timetable is up, and they've got a good slot: 6pm on the main stage.

I wish I had made a resolution that lasted as long as yours did...

  • Joanna,

I'm stoked with the BDO timetable this year - I can get there at 4.45pm for Battles and leave at 9.10 after Bjork. Perhaps it's possible to survive without Immortal Lounge passes after all!

  • Robyn Gallagher,

    The BDO timetable is up

I like the cutlery pairing of Spoon followed by Grinspoon. Not that I'm likely to see either. (I'll be off seeing The Forks!!!!!?)

Perhaps it's possible to survive without Immortal Lounge passes after all!

I have heard stories of this wondrous place where there is airconditioning and cold beer. I have survived without it for 14 years, but the idea seems really appealing this time round...
