  • Geoff Lealand,

concert for dogs. The idea is that the "music/performance" is pitched beyond human hearing so only dogs will

As an interviewer once suggested to Paul Weller well-uh, well-uh/ Tell me more. tell me more

As you describe it here, it sounds a teensy bit pretentious.

  • 3410,

how will we know if it is any good?

Tape it, then play it back at half speed.

    Alternatively, ask an asthmatic.

  • Grace Dalley,

This raises a number of issues, not the least -- and I put on my critic hat at this point -- how will we know if it is any good?

This is a very good question. It might bark like a dog. But I struggle to imagine Lou and Laurie doing anything that wasn't the cat's whiskers! Surely music for the avant guard dog. ;-)

  • linger,

OMG, that wasn't a typo -- you really are paying $A160/night (which is what, $NZ180?) at a youth hostel, and describing it as "good value"!
Of course you know the equivalent room in Wellington [i.e. backpacking establishment, but offering ensuites; so the closest equivalent would be at something like the Cambridge] would be around $NZ90.
... Does that mean that Wellington has half the cultural value of Sydney?

    the avant guard dog

    woof, woof, I like it...

The idea is that the "music / performance" is pitched beyond human hearing so only dogs will, like, kinda get it.

I just searched the STA website for hostels in Boston and the cheapest they came up with was US$134 a night, suggesting the definition of "hostel" may be more flexible than one would imagine.

  • recordari,

Best youth hostel ever was in Delphi (Ok it was 1993) and was 300 drachma per night twin share (about $30NZ at the time, from memory). That's what a youth hostel should cost, and the view of the Adriatic Sea didn't hurt.
