Daily Show in "actually daily" shock
-
Did I miss something? C4 is screening actual daily episodes of The Daily Show, Tuesday to Friday, at 10pm. And it's doing it in timely fashion: basically, it screens here around the same time Americans see it. This is very cool. Quite why they haven't bothered to tell anyone, I don't know. Maybe they don't know themselves: all the C4 promos give the impression it's the global edition, but it isn't, it's the proper one.
And it's on series link for MySky. I don't have to download The Daily Show any more. Freaky.
PS: The first series of Chappelle's Show is on the same nights at 9.30.

Yeah, you missed something.
I'd noticed they were going to, made a mental note to mention it here, and then forgot; not being able to get C4 probably didn't help. That said, it was in the TV listings, shouldn't that be enough :-)

Even the in-house listings queen didn't pick it up. Understandable when they're still promoting it like it's the old global edition version. Jeez, I think I'd be making a song and dance about finally getting access to the daily version straight off the satellite ...
I checked last night and it screened with two hours of the torrent going up on Mininova. That's great!

I know it was mentioned somewhere...
Not Listener, DomPost or Herald, maybe TV Guide (couldn't find it when I looked last night, however).
And 'though I know it within the two hours you want (I'd say we, but I don't get C4 so don't count) it'd be nice if they played the Friday show at 10pm Monday.

It was uncanny- the liberal political blogosphere was running hot on Sen Biden and there he was joking about with Jon last night.... Watching them it was hard not to think Jon Stewart would make the better president. And wouldn't the press conferences be fun.

That is impressive of C4 to screen it just 2 hours after the Pacific time zone of the US sees it, now they just need the Colbert Report to follow it.
In general, it seems the popularity of downloading TV shows has forced CanWest & TVNZ this year to screen the new seasons of American shows far earlier than previous years.
Last year, the NZ telecasts of the big US TV shows seemed to begin just as the US seasons were ending in April/May.
This year, 'Lost' will end up being just four weeks behind the US telecast, 'American Idol', just a fortnight.
Perhaps in a year or two we will see the shows being screened within 24 hours of the North American broadcast. -
Maybe it is just us liberal malcontents who like the Daily Show. Eveyone else is wathcing Fox on Prime.

Or 24/7 on Sky. But Fox News is bleeding viewers every month in the US - it's really looking like its golden years are rapidly departing.

And while we're discussing shows people might have missed in the listings, The Unauthorised History of New Zealand is returning.
Starting Monday-week (Feb 12th) on TV One at 10:15 (i.e. opposite the end of Heroes).

I am stoked that the Daily Show doesn't screen on Mondays so that it doesn't clash with Heroes. Also, HURRAY! It's Monday!

Sue,
i wonder if they can bundle up The Colbert Report as well

I don't think there is a Friday show.

It'd be nice if they played it earlier in the evening (I'd even watch day-old episodes if they were earlier)

Fantastic! I've been hoping we'd get The Daily Show for the few years now, and I'm happy as a toddler in a bouncy castle that it's coming to us free-to-air and on-the-day. Just brilliant. And hopefully this means the Colbert Report will eventually follow? *fingers crossed*
:D
