Thanks Alyona, I've pledged for the Tech Rangers event. It'd be great to see this kind of thing get off the ground regularly. My daughter is keen to go so I hope they meet the target!

Thanks for telling us about this. My girls are too young for the event unfortunately. I come from a Stem family and enjoy popular science but I'm not in that area professionally myself. I'd love my girls to have more opportunities in science and tech but it is hard to add that to the family routine, especially when the parents aren't strong in that area. I wish there was more out there for primary school girls, that didn't also cost an arm and a leg. Are there any sciencey clubs out there??

I had a good day but boy was it hot, and the concrete is punishing on the body. I enjoyed lots of the acts but due to my diminutive stature and distance I missed out on on visual performance. I thought the shows started pretty low key, and thought Jungle was the first properly fun act of the day. Courtenay Barnett was a revelation, as was FKA Twigs. Race Banyon and Jon Hopkins were lots of fun too. I found Future Island a bit 'meh' but maybe I was too far away? But their songs are really samey...I am gutted I missed St Vincent, based on the consensus above, but I was vibing out to Flying Lotus instead. That act would have been amazing to watch lying on a grassy slope somewhere.
Note to self - get following day off work for 2016.

I completely agree Russell. Emma, that’s a sad story. My 80’s primary school in fairly homogeneously white east Auckland had a senior teacher who was Maori and we learned a lot of songs in Maori, which I can of course still remember. I’d like my children to have more than just songs.

My go to solo meal is fish ball soup. Frozen fish balls in a broth with pak choy, noodles etc. My partner is a big red meat eater so that's what I don't have when I'm on my own.
