thanks Lilith, had to check with Google after you mentioned that... I'm quite confused by birds "previously known as" - and yes very shy on the ground. Quite aggressive when I wandered a bit close though, flying at me like a Mitsubishi Zero.

Loving the birds - those native NZers have very impressive beaks.
Just caught the last of the action here... two chicks had already run underneath the puffed up ample bosom of this lapwing plover. Uber cute.

Thanks Nora, I have a beautiful portrait of a shivering-child as part of this series... although it was really lovely day, we discovered there is no warm water piped into fountains.
I did think that if someone was dancing in there it would make an extraordinary video.

Love this idea... Sadly all the quirky little cat figurines that were gifted to me have been quietly thrifted so I will have to see what I can find.
