  • Hard News: Dead Elephant Frenzy,

We assumed that Sunday at the zoo would be completely mental, so we went along on Saturday instead. The weather was great and the place was in full Wot Wot frenzy. Later we saw the fauna show and got to pet a tuatara. A really great day out all round.

  • Hard News: Swine flu and swearing,

So … has anyone had it?

Haven't had it, but the case of Zachary Wilson is a bit close to home for us, his dad works for a close relative's business. Very sad all round.

  • Field Theory: Shut Up and Skate,

I ran into an Auckland team at a backpackers in New Plymouth last year. I was super impressed that they kept up the names even at 7am on a Sunday... "wanna cup of tea, Carnage?" "yeah ta, 2 sugars thanks Femme"

  • Island Life: Bye, bye, you peculiar guy.,

    Atomic Rooster anyone? Anyone?

I heard some of their choons at the end of the first series of Life On Mars the other day and had to go resurrect a couple of albums. Great stuff.

  • Busytown: Rocky Mountain hi!,

so the difference of 10 degrees may indeed make a difference even if can't say why.

Definitely - with coffee (espresso, anyway) a couple of degrees either side of about 92-ish can change the flavour completely so tea's probably similar.

I wonder how coffee goes in Aspen? Maybe you can make the perfect drop just by boiling a kettle and pouring it straight on!

I figured you could knock the torque wrench off first... "push until it gets to the right number, then stop pushing". There, done.

  • Up Front: Newsflash: Women Have Eyes,

Hi Suraya - I have no opinion on near-nekkid men, but I can say that Panasonic definitely make hi-fi headphones that are too small for a man-sized head. I have such a head and the damn things don't fit!

(Good luck with the mag too)

  • Field Theory: All Misty-Eyed,

Or the day when someone gives her a F1 car and she gets to kick Jenson Button in the nuts

Yeah, I'm not sure about that, she's not all that great away from oval tracks. Her best finishes are 4th at Long Beach this year, and 5th a couple of years ago at Mid-Ohio.

Pity about Scott Dixon though, he looked really good until late in the race.

  • Speaker: The Telecom XT Discussion,

Did we really only ask three questions?

I asked about roaming charges, having been burned badly by that on Vodafone a couple of weeks ago, but the answer was just along the lines of "we'll announce pricing when it comes out".
