our house in Auckland had no cat door so one of our cats used to let himself in to the neighbours every night and sleep on their bed instead.
He even used to scare their cat off so he would have more room. -
yeah....
one of our cats always snubbs us for a good few hours after we return from holiday - as if to say 'how dare you not take me on holiday with you' or 'no, I didn't miss you, you mean nothing to me' -

From memory the shooter has not been caught/charged. The police say the know who it was. Maybe the victim and his mate aren't willing to name names? -
Agreed, Fishers article in the HOS was good.
I thought the way he introduced the story was excellent... first time in a long time that a story of over a few paragraphs (in the HOS) has grabbed my attention and made me want to read the whole story slowly and carefully.
Usually, I just skim read.
It will be interesting to see what happens next with a more balanced view of the story available to the general public. -
we do the 'small' gift from Santa too for the same reason as you Jolisa.
I have faced some very intense questioning from my youngest (8yrs) the last few weeks. She knows the tooth fairy aint real (I got caught - doh!). She keeps asking if Santa is real or not. I don't want to lie so i say 'well, what do you think?' and then she would say things like how mall Santas aren't real but thats because the 'real' Santa is too busy to do stuff like that. So, I think she still believes in him... I have done my best to cultivate it without directly lying to her.
Yesterday at the supermarket she spied some 'spiced buns' similar to hot cross buns and asked 'So... is the Easter Bunny real Mum?'
This time when i said 'Well, what do you think?' she answered back with a direct stare 'I want to know what you think!'
My lame reply was that I had never seem him but that didn't mean much.
I satisfied her for the time being but supermarkets being what they are and Easter being March this year I am sure I will only have a couple of weeks respite before the mountains of Hot Cross Buns and Easter Eggs will prompt a more vigorous questioning. -
oh bummer you missed changing of the guard.
Ever since it was on Michael Palins series it has been on my 'must see' list. -
aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh - lost my reply!
anyway - long story short
yay heat beads (no longer have to re-work Christmas day menu)try this site for inspiration when lacking

F***! I just ran down to my garage to check my BBQ fuel.
It is 'Heat Beads' which is from Australia
Typical composition
Fixed Carbon approx 70%
Ash approx 17%
Water approx 7%
"Other" approx 6%are these the briquettes you mean?
We tried the cheap coal once and and didn't get hot enough.

I prefer dry rubs (chili powder, garlic, rosemary, salt) to oil marinades because lamb fat tends to flame and oil only makes it worse.
or you can try yoghurt based marinade.
natural unsweetened yoghurt (thick greek is better) and add garlic, salt, pepper and other herbs and spices of your choice.
It makes a kind of 'crust' on the outside and the lamb is beautifully moist inside. Yum.
We then usually serve with sauce made from same above yoghurt, garlic and mint.My tummy is now making noises... I have made myself hungry talking about all of this so I will now go and prepare dinner.
Happy BBQing all -

tho' my one is quite a bit older than this and doesn't look as fancy...
our favourite is to bone and stuff a roast pork
amazing flavour and stays juicybut lamb, beef and chicken are fantastic too though
only problem is that you can only buy the coals required (you need the right ones) from BBQ factory - you used to be able to get them from the supermarketAsk anyone who has a Weber and they will tell you the same... cant beat them!
