I have fought with you over this before.
I'll go you one better, mountain climbing isn't a sport (hence Ed Hilary is not a sportsman).

Possibly the most controversial comment posted in this thread: Yachting is totally a sport.

I'm just noting that I find Hadyn's threads a little difficult at the moment.
Next one is all about the tournament itself, no isms of either stripe: optim or pessim.

We’ve cancelled the whole Dunedin thing. We’ll all stay with our friend in Queenstown and watch it on the telly.
First, price gouging sucks and I hope it doesn't ruin more people's holidays. But cancelling seems a bit defeatist. Surely there's someone here you could ask nicely. We are a pretty small country, you're bound to know someone who will let you crash for a night or two. It's what I'm going to be doing in Napier (Japan v Canada), with parents of my partner's workmate.

why do they need to represent participation as either a form of military service or abstinence from sex?
Because "they" are not very good at marketing?

an expression of a deep strain of sex-negativity in our culture. Sex is frivolous, a temptation, a distraction from the serious business of ... well, of watching men stick their heads between other men's thighs,
I'm with you right up to the end. I think that NZ does seem to have an odd sex-negative attitude (despite us being quite a liberal nation on most, but not all, sexual issues). But rugby has never been at odds to sex. There's the old joke about players having to "save it up" for after the game, but that's not particular to rugby.
In Invictus the captain, Francois Pienaar (played by Matt Damon) is constantly sneaking his wife into his hotel room for a sly one before the game. Dan Carter is on underwear billboards because he is generally considered a bit of a hottie.
To mix the two in a negative fashion is weird and it doesn't fit.

sounds really similar, with the slurring and all
I thought I was the only one who noticed that

It seems this was an unplanned pre-launch leak. Which may mean that someone has spoiled a joke. Which is a bit stink (especially if you've paid a lot of money for a pimped-out fist-mobile)
