  • Field Theory: How's that working out for…, in reply to Russell Brown,

I am, however, willing to testify that that it's the edgiest thing ever if there's some free tickets in it.

OMG, it's like the Master of My Domain episode!

We're heading in to Party Central on the 9th to witness the powhiri, the arriving waka and the music - as part of great party New Zealand is throwing for us and the rest of the world.

That's awesome! And exactly what I hope people will do, because this is never happening here again.

What I think I like more than it's taste is its label. Dark, old worldy and different.

You mean this one? It's pretty nice, but looks a little like Carlton Crown for me.

On a related note, have you seen the Oh, Beautiful Beer Flickr group and blog?

Yeah I had their Dusty Gringo at Beervana on one of my breaks from behind the bar.... Awesome beer! :-D

Now the penny drops. I had one of those too, yes it is very good beer!

Hope you don't mind the blatant advertising.

Always happy to help makers of good beer (I assume it's good beer)

  • Hard News: London's Burning,

I met a guy last year who was in the Poll Tax march (and subsequent riot). He said as they walked in his friends noticed large piles of bricks around despite no other construction work and felt that initial dread of seeing what they were walking into.

Just saw on TV3 a local spoke about being attacked while trying to save a bus driver. "People just need to be normal" is what I think he said.

  • Field Theory: All Blacks v South Africa…, in reply to Danielle,

I like the ‘collar’. But I’m hanging out for a peplum. ;)

Assuming what I googled was correct, gosh! That'd make for some interesting scrums

Thomo had a good game in the lineout (so did Williams by the look of the stats). Can we remember who stole the ball from the SA lines?

And I find them jarring and distracting. I’m not normally wedded to tradition but the shoe thing annoys me.

I obviously hate them. Only Nonu wears them on our side and I think it's a bit much and looks stupid. Also the white and gold boots look cool.

  • Field Theory: All Blacks v South Africa…, in reply to David Cormack,

I’m not even sure I’d have SBW on the bench.

He was a bit stuttery when he came on, and his last minute passes terrify me. I keep seeing a Frenchman grabbing one and running it in for the winning try...

  • Field Theory: All Blacks v South Africa…, in reply to Russell Brown,

I'm not as down on Ali Williams as some people are.

I agree, he also brings something that most people discount, levity. He was clearly joking around with the ref and the other players and that sort of high spirits (mixed with hard work) makes the team feel less stressed and the ref a little bit more laid back. Can't be hard-ass muthafuckas the whole game. Young Mr Guildford does the same thing, when he's not kicking himself.
