Hard News: Now win the argument, in reply to
Note that Private Schools with 18 per class and Charter Schools with the same, do so with clear evidence on their side.
… and with a shitload more funding than most state schools.
So we need to see realistic budgeting to achieve this target.… Actually, haven’t we discussed the evidence for class size effects here before? I seem to recall there was a problem in that some of the “smaller” classes being used for comparison were remedial or special needs classes, and so the overall effect of reducing class size was systematically underestimated.

Take your rage out on those who withdrew the rape crisis centre’s funding.
and also for Sofie, re:
this Government doesn’t give a toss for anyone struggling mentally or financially […]. Bastards.
Apologies in advance if this is too black, but …
it does take someone as unempathetic as Paula Bennett to hear the phrase “rape crisis centres” and think “Yes! I can do that!"… -

statements such as the latter are […] going to become sound bites.
This begs several questions:
Were there any statements of Cunliffe’s actual message that could have been used as soundbites? And if not, why not?
But if so, why did media choose to focus away from the message instead? -

Awesome. That’s a greater Auckland city vision by far than the names now on the map. (& what most non-JAFAs have always thought about it!)

snark, which appears to have put on weight.
Which would make it a boojum.

Hard News: He Panui: Media Take, in reply to
We’ve always made a point of talking to media creators and decision-makers.
I note that Hiwi & Pat Tauroa’s guide to marae protocol puts the word in a highly relevant context:
The taki , the representative of Tane Mahuta, is placed before you, to invite you to come in peace, while recognising that you may have a take (a reason) for which harsh words may need to be spoken.
