Thankyou my darling. That they will be. Although someone else will have to do the knitting.

I can almost see a 2am PAS chorus of “I wanna know what love is”.

Oh, I’ll sing the SHIT out of that song. It doesn’t mean it’s any good.

I love some Beatles, too, ya know. And one of the reasons why I have huge wells of fondness for you is that you are a good sport. Unlike some people.

Disagree then, we must. I love a song you can belt out. I know you do too. I also know they would be different songs. One of these days, I will have a house where I can reciprocate hospitality - and I will make you sit through Elton John and Foreigner, and maybe a bit of Air Supply. Just for fun. Ha!

  • Hard News: Friday Fever, in reply to Russell Brown,

I was impressed by AA Gill's session at the Auckland Readers and Writers Festival, in which I thought he showed unexpected generosity of spirit.

Mum really enjoyed him. She thought that the Al Brown pairing was an odd one but didn't think it mattered too much, since she said Brown didn't manage to get much of a word in edgewise. (What she said was - "it reminded me of a conversation with you, darling." How rude.)

It’s a dub of one of the worst songs ever – Foreigner’s ‘I Want to Know What Love Is’ -- and it’s actually really, really nice.

I resemble that remark. Nothing wrong with a bit of Foreigner.

And while I said that it would all go into site development, I wish to propose an amendment to the effect that a small portion will also be used to buy a nice lunch for Emma and David and their families when I'm down in Christchurch on the 22nd, as a token of everyone's appreciation.

    Those in favour say aye.

    Those against?

    Motion carried.

    Aye, aye, aye. And ae.

I suddenly thought that my comment could come across as being narky at you ,which it certainly wasn't meant to be. I think a thermometer thingy is a good idea.

You are going to have to post a "new pool thermometer" so we can see how much people love this site :).

Or you could do what some of our parents tell us is done in their churches which is to announce from your pulpit how much everyone has given. <sarc>
