Muse: Linky Love, in reply to
Being so annoyed?
Well, the point is that sometimes it works out OK. See the American Office (at least in the first few seasons, it's fallen off a bit now) - I was hugely dubious, and it became its own fantastic thing. So it isn't necessarily that all of them are 'provincial hicks'.
Then again, I am the first to whine when they can't understand me in a restaurant, so I suppose I should shut up. :)

There are ways to phrase that reasonably accurate sentiment without being quite so... whatever that was, Sacha.

Coffee will always be bitter with one of those.
If you're referring to a little stovetop espresso pot, I disagree. I use one of those every morning, and I don't think my coffee is bitter at all. (I like my coffee very strong, but I really hate bitter coffee.)

slow dripped black syrup onto a bed of sweetened milk
Oh. Oh. I just remembered we used to get a variation of that in a Vietnamese restaurant in Houston. Drool.

I'm mildly excited about Grassroots in April
I haven't seen Elvis since... 2002, so I'm fairly clappity-clappity about Grassroots. Plus: Grace Jones!!
(I'm also attending Sufjan Stevens, Les Savy Fav, and Roxy Music, but frankly I'm the most thrilled by seeing The Meters on April 15. Funky squee!)

the second series, for all their flaws entertained
I... do not believe that to be a defensible assessment. (Except for that one part where Yoda kicked some ass. I'll give you that.)

I’m more of a ‘clappity clappity’ than a squee. Does that count?
I think that 'clappity clappity' comes under the general banner of squeedom.

This is what M.I.A. was starting into as we were leaving:
May I take a moment to wail in a tragic and incoherent manner?
WAAAAAH!
