We're having a day of days here in Auckland too. I walked across the city earlier, for one reason or another, and it was as springy as a spring thing.
Glad to hear your cat is well again. Might go find a sunny spot myself.

I wonder if you'd need a tripod to use it at full zoom. Be fun to have a play with!
It will probably have the latest Canon image stabilizer, which is pretty good, but I'd be wanting to see samples of the full zoom before getting too excited. The G10 struggles at the limits of the optical zoom, although things have moved on a lot since then.
