Ben: "Instead of embracing people who sought to live in comfort and success in an increasingly Pakeha world, [Maori culture] spurns them as race traitors."
Stephen: "Yikes. Does it really?"
Che: "No... it doesn't, and that is a gross generalisation".

nnnnnngh...
"have* that air"

What happened on Monday might have pissed people off, and even made them feel scared, but to compare it to Parihaka is to grossly trivialise the memory of Parihaka itself.
to be honest, i'm not even sure it's a bastion point.
but it does that that air.

I might also have added the word "contemptuous" and "hostile". They actually remind me of religious nutters.
i refer you back to someone's comment about the extreme left and the extreme right being mirror images of each other.
it's like a big left/right political affiliation circle where "wacko" meets on the far side from "rational".

The more raids, and the wider they cast their net, the higher the police are making the stakes for themselves.
as i've stated from the beginning, this one seems fishy to me.
the only thing that's making me take it seriously is the number of well-established journalists who aren't poo-pooing it.
this makes me think that the word on the street must be highly interesting indeed. no?

Treaty Crimes Investigation Unit?
so... that'll be people pissed off with the "foreshore raupatu" then?
and where is manakura when you need him?

ok, it's post-a-rama from me here.
but...
bomber is backing the police, and ross meurant is agin them.

C'mon, even neo-Nazis aren't stupid enough to have on their website a bunch of photos of them touting their weapons about.
afaik you can practice gun-handling at a legal shooting range.
no need to cart them about in public.

@rb and b.munro on pg.7.
ahhh... penny drops. as you say, once the bulk poisoning incident is established as an employment dispute it makes sense to hand it over.
was someone actually charged with "terrorism" for that kind of intent you wonder about the watering down of the seriousness of the crime though.

Sorry should read 'anti-terrorism squad'. Actually I don't know what they are actually called but 'they' were invoved in the investigation.
nothing i have read before has ever screamed 'bored cop' like an 'anti-terrorism' squad being involved in a milk poisoning incident...
