'51 waterfront strike- Wish I had time to watch this tonight.
-
I had an entre of sweetbreads once (still not sure what they are- do I want to know?) baked into a brioche, with some sort of sauce. It was blimin’ lovely, made the main seem plain, as can happen. That was at the post Office Cafe, the old Sydenham Post Office, prior to “Blue Jeans” moving there- now an empty space.
So if it’s a trap, it might be a good one to fall into :)
edit: so know I now. Yum, pancreas! doesn't have quite the same ring. -
Hard News: Friday is for all the things, in reply to
virtually every good vocalist sings with an American accent.
Don’t tell David :) (From the Bridle Path manifesto)
2. VOCALS
2.1. All vocals to be sung in a New Zealand accent (not necessarily a strong New Zealand accent, but definitely not a British or American accent).

Wisdom teeth? :)

Anyone else find Len Brown's absence of concern this morning troubling? The ratepayers/shareholders interests come first; maximising profits is the only game in town; firing 300 employees and contracting out services is not his concern.
It was heartening to hear the listener feedback (medieval working conditions/I wish I could just dictate to the bank I want a 12% return) and realise many many NZers are wide awake vocally concerned.
Because our labour laws, stripped back, are revealed to offer no protection to anyone if their employer wishes to dispose of their services. The courts say as long as it's "disestablishment' and 'restructuring', managers must be 'free to manage' as they see fit- they don't have to justify any decision.
Talking to a South African recently, he said labour laws here seemed barbaric. I've been guilty of feeling a little superior to (white) South Africans on the barbarity of their institutions vs ours. Not so much now.
Do we still lead the world in following unvarnished neo-liberal ideology? Ouch. -
Hard News: Unwarranted risk, in reply to
bullshit is about to prevail
Yep. Plenty where I work, too. We're in for a tough couple of years. The unions are about the only organised opposition to unfettered free market rule. The Bosses are determined this is their moment. Cult of management, trickle-down bullshit and look carefully at your rights- they might be disappearing.
As the man said- "Organise!" -

But I believe that Labour are far too cowardly to do it.
Cunliffe came pretty close...

I wouldn't even trust that shower of bozos to look after a goldfish.
It's gold, innit? what's that worth on the open market?
The opposition should be flaying them in the House
Mr Shearer is too polite. He's not a flayer, a slayer or a nay-sayer. He's not a frother or a ranter or a raver. He's not a rabble-rouser, a rubble-raker or a rhetoritician. So far, he's more-or-less a vacuum.
DPF must be soooo disappointed Labour avoided that polarising Cunliffe and opted for the affable Fleecer-of-sheep. </still disappointed with Labour, when will I learn :)> -
Yep. She's doing the right thing.
But credit to you and Craig too- it could have simply slid on past, to be further quoted down the road. As long as 'low viewer numbers' is touted as a reason for closing TVNZ 7 this has to be slammed at every opportunity.
And I dunno- reckon we might still be waiting a while for the Herald headline: Minister misled public on TVNZ 7 viewer numbers! -
I wonder how many of us emailed? Possibly quite a few strongly worded messages in the in-box? And this time, the message reached someone who gave a toss. Lesson: Keep kvetching!
