  • Hard News: The Beautiful Pants,

    Reminds me of this limerick

There was a young girl from Rabat
Who had triplets: Nan, Pat, and Tat.
It was fun in the breeding,
    but hell in the feeding,
as she found she had no tit for Tat.

  • Hard News: The Beautiful Pants,

I can think of no similar rationale for Miss Peru's costume:

Maybe she thinks she is from Tie land?

Bugger....its the Khazi who is wearing the ties......

    A Peruvian Lampshade maybe????

The TV3 60minutes on "The Miracle Story" about Alan Smith and H1N1 and Vitamin C injections.

Sciblogs has a good post and asks some folk who might be able to guess the benefit or oterwise of Vit C injections.

Given the "communication in Sciece" Media & 'n all.

  • Speaker: John Roughan is Scared,

Haywood had the answer. Get rid of the gas guzzlers.

    and

IIRC his answer was a bit more nuanced than that

    Then

If David saying the average consumption of petrol and diesel in this country is of the order of 9.something litres / 100km and the technology (ie cars and trucks) with a modern fleet can get it down the 4.5 L /100km, then any way you nuance it, that says: Get rid of the gas guzzlers.

Halving the gas bill is mildly significant isn't it?

Edit. have just replayed the bit: He only mentioned cars in the "half that" quote about dropping the fuel consumption.

  • Speaker: John Roughan is Scared,

Hasn't been too bad a week down here. A truck and trailer flipping over at 5am in the morning yesterday and blocking - completely - (well done that lad!) the south bound motorway just south of Porirua. And this morning 2 trucks have a wee to do on SH2 and blocking that one. Tired drivers anyone??? Night shift problems anyone?

Nah. Lets have more of the f&*kers on the raod. The bigger the better...eh.

Lets hear it for Germany and a shit load of Europe. No trucks on Sunday. They make it so expensive for them to drive on sunday it is pointless to start them up.

Get 'em off I say. A danger to humanity. Use the freaking railway you clods!

  • Hard News: Doing Science in Court,

Hah!!!! I had heard a story about the political leanings and age and Politics of the deniers. And did a search for it on Google. But...

Found a cracker blog of the Relativity Deniers of the 20's!!!! Nothing changes!!

    Especially Einsteins top quote!!!!

“This world is a strange madhouse. Currently, every coachman and every waiter is debating whether relativity theory is correct. Belief in this matter depends on political party affiliation.”

    And the last sentence:

"Waiting until all the polls line up is a gutless dereliction of duty.”

  • Hard News: Doing Science in Court,

    Bugger. Hit post reply. Continued:

Wiki makes the statement "In contrast to the obvious direct dangers of nuclear warfare, there is no clear evidence that the indirect dangers of nuclear winter made any substantial difference to policy".

It certainly was not clear from the west's side anyway.

Did it take the threat of instant annihilation to bring about the withdrawing from the brink by both sides? And the demise of the USSR? - I always wondered if the USSRians blinked first after this scenario was raised.

The "not quite so instant death" of climate warming does not have the same reality show feel about it does it.
