OnPoint: MSD's Leaky Servers, in reply to
Also, hearing that the files were writeable (editable).
That would mean deletable too but they would have backups... wouldn't they?

Computers are a bit like cars: most of us know how to use them, many of us know how to do minor things
Thing is though that this is akin to looking in the glove box and finding the contents of everybody else's glove box (ok, so you have to invoke the spacial/time anomalies usually encountered in the Tardis but I'm sure you have a handbag and know about such things)
What I don't understand id why they didn't just use Windows 7, an operating system that not only takes eons to search for files but when you eventually track them down you are not allowed access. Brilliant. -

Another kick in the crotch for the people of Christchurch, first the dropping of the Canterbury Clothing Company brand now selling out to an insurance company that not only was a major mover in the global financial crisis but an underwriter for the industry that caused more damage than the earthquakes.
Pah, thank you greed heads."This is a great day for New Zealand rugby," said NZRU Chief Executive Steve Tew. "This is an exciting new partnership that will further secure the future of rugby at all levels in this country and pave the way for our game to reach new fans around the world."
so says the NZRU's Steve Tew
Perhaps they would have been better of getting sponsorship from TUI Beer. -
Legal Beagle: Kim Dotcom: all the fault…, in reply to
That this is turning into an attack on Shearer’s character is a trifle absurd.
Oh when will they learn?.
In 99%+ of Government cock-ups it is not the original stuff-up that causes the most damage, it is the cover-up. The longer jonkey fluffs around saying "I know nothing" the more he will look like a sitcom fool. So, keep it up jon, you could be gone by the metaphorical "lunchtime" and that would be a blessing for us all. -

Hard News: The Advocate, in reply to
trying to blame the rest of us for the problems of the poor
That statement deserved some analysis.
If you are not poor it means you have more stuff than the "poor" which, in a far and equitable society, you actually have some of their stuff.
Money can't buy happiness but it can buy food and shelter which is necessary to avoiding misery. -
I have to admit that when Campbell covered the "Corngate Scandal" I felt annoyed that he expected the then PM, Helen Clark, to have all the information at her fingertips without giving her the "Heads Up" on the guts of the interview. I do, however, have the greatest respect for the man, he appears as an honest broker when it comes to questions that bother many New Zealanders. His coverage of the mess in Christchurch is a fine example of , at least attempting, to get answers from disingenuous politicians,
Whilst TV3 are, without doubt, driven by commercial interest they seem to be apologetic of that fact and appear to show no willingness to side with the Government on their agenda of snuggling up to Big Business. TVNZ, on the other hand, appear more like a bumbling bureaucracy with pretensions of corporate importance.
I would rather see the likes of Campbell and dare I say Sainsbury, continue to question the smug, holier than thou excuses for leaders we face today and, maybe, give them the same grilling John Campbell gave to Helen Clark, than sit back and watch this country slide down the slippery slope to a divided nation living in wretched poverty.

Speaker: Key: Concession Not Recession, in reply to
That’s shabby, but it’s not a result of the law change. I hope ACC sees CENTS.
