the Massively Swollen Dongle, are you being servered?
I read that as…
“the Massively Swollen Dongle, are you being severed?”
Shades of Lorena Bobbit glimpsed from the corner of a watering eye.

As always Ian, splendid stuff... ;-) -

Brendan Boyle, He sounds like a decent man.
By the name alone he sounds like an axe wielding madman from the Gorbals whose very presence should be feared. But what is in a name ? a nose by any other name would smell.

Ministry of Social Dislocation
I hear rumour that Ms Benefit refers to her pet Ministry as "My Sweet Dystopia" but don't quote me on that'
I keep having visions of Keith running from the Dole office (for that is what it should be called) with a Massively Swollen Dongle full of Paula's Manuscripts of Spiteful Disclosures. -

My recollection is that Helen Clark got rid of the WINZ moniker quite early
And in good Socialist order employed thousands of people with erasers to correct the letterheads and signage. Oh how I miss Miss Helen. :-(
I have no such feeling for the commander of the Ministry of Social Dysfunction which is responsible for this Massive Storage Dislication caused by the worship of the Mighty Silver Dollar. I fear that someone May Surely Die while these Muppets Sit and Dither. -

They’re not called WINZ offices now, and it was over 10 years ago when that stopped.
Well I'll be darned, WINZ was an acronym for Work and Income New Zealand and now they just go by the moniker of Work and Income. Seems they are no longer interested in New Zealand. That makes sense now.
;-)
I wonder how much it cost us to change the name to one nobody seems to use?. -

Is that copy of the website a record of a modification to the live site or is it limited to the copy?
Just a spoof. I wouldn't want to get on her bad side.

can anyone advise on the correct way to inform Paula Bennett if, hypothetically, her blog seemed to be vulnerable to SQL injection?
Erm, no but Her Website is another story.

I suspect that there weren't any jobs at KPMG advertised on the Work and Income database.
Time for an anecdote...
About 10 years back I had occasion to go to a WINZ office, or whatever they were called back then, because I was in between jobs and thought it might be worth looking at what jobs they had on the books.
Back then they had a brand new computer set-up in the public area, two in fact, that you punched in your details and it delivered a list of jobs that would suit you.
Thjere were a couple of other people doing this so I waited my turn and watched.
he two guys in front of me got their print-outs and read the results.
"Aircraft Refueller" said one.
"Hey, same here' the other guy retorted.
They hung around while I did the punching in of my skills and attributes. The result?
Aircraft Refueller.
We figured out that the machine was just spitting out the first job on an alphabetical list regardless of input.
"So" said one of the guys "No jobs for accountants then".
Oh how we laughed... -
OnPoint: MSD's Leaky Servers, in reply to
private company Dimension Data was hired to test the security of the kiosks prior to Mr Ng’s experience and reported no problems.
But according to te Herald
The Ministry of Social Development revealed this morning that IT company Dimension Data had tested the self-serve kiosks in April last year and identified issues of concern.
Which I read as “They told us there was a problem but we didn’t do nuffink” Why nothing was done is a matter of total incompetence on the part of the Ministry as a whole, you would not leave decisions as to what to do up to private company, surely?.

Thinking this through a little more I started to wonder whether the people responsible for day to day management of the system were "Let go" as they were considered as surplus to requirements now that the general public can access the system and do all that confusing configuration stuff themselves. -
Ah, now I understand why the Govt isn't that concerned about Huawei.
ICT Minister Amy Adams has previously said the government is monitoring the situation, but has no security concerns about any of the equipment suppliers...
