At the very first BDO, my friend who I went with was wearing a Rage Against The Machine T-shirt. People kept asking her if RATM were playing, and eventually we started telling people they were, and as the day went on, we then said they'd just played (and they were AWESOME).
So I like to think there are people who will have a false memory of having seen Rage Against The Machine at the Big Day Out in 1994.

interestingly many indie labels are turning back to vinyl as a way to combat ripping.
I wonder if record labels will start releasing fancy CD packaging as a more expensive alternative to buying the music digitally.
It's like what Radiohead are doing - sell the digital version relatively cheaply, but also offer a pricer boxed package for the hardcore fans.

and how about radiohead releasing their new album for free? i don't know if that's a very smart business model.
Yes, I think Radiohead need to have a serious talk with their accountant. They really ought to release the album on CD, then six months later release a "special edition" with two live tracks and a couple of music videos. That's what rock n roll is all about, right?

I didn't feel like going out on Saturday night. It was cold, I was tired, but I had this Blam Blam Blam ticket, so I hauled arse to the King's Arse and I'm so glad I did.
The lads put on a great show. It didn't feel like some guys who'd got the old band back together. It felt young, fresh and new.
I blogged about it here. What a brilliant night.

Oh, dammit. It looks like Amazon is on to the 90210 hack.
This is what greeted me when I just attempted to buy a song:
We are sorry...
We could not process your order because of geographical restrictions on the product which you were attempting to purchase. Please refer to the terms of use for this product to determine the geographical restrictions.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
I double-checked by trying to buy a song I'd successfully bought last week, and it won't let me do that either.
Back to iTunes, I guess, but it will never be the same now.

Whatever that computery font is called!
It looks like it's based on the legendary E-13B magnetic ink character recognition font. I like the idea that the Phoenix Foundation's stage front could be scanned by a giant robot, who would be pleased to discover the name of the band making such delightful tunes.
What I liked most 'bout the video was the cameo by Mr Waititi, nodding appreciatively from his DeLorean. (But I'm trying to figure out if he's a visitor from the past or the future.)

I found that even wanting to stop smoking wasn't enough - but I had to want to stop being a smoker.
The most useful advice I've heard about quitting smoking was from a lady who had previously been a serial quitter and relapser.
She said whenever she had quit smoking, she'd always focussed on being a non-smoker, on not smoking. Eventually she realised that people who have never smoked aren't all like "Whoo-hoo! I haven't smoked for 32 years!" Smoking just isn't part of their lives. They don't think about it.
So once she'd gone through the first few weeks of withdrawal, she started to move her focus away from being a non-smoker to generally being healthy. And it worked.

Nothing extreme, just a wee nip of scotch every time I’d normally have a cigarette.
Years ago I read an interview with Janeane Garofalo in Bus magazine. She'd recently lose weight, and they asked her what her weight-loss secret was. She said she ate bananas and whenever she felt hungry, she'd do a shot of tequila. lolz

It's not so much that he's sniffing the veges, but it's that he does it so quickly before passing them to the stall owner. It's like someone's told him to sniff the veges rather than it being something he normally does.
Also, I feel perculiar staring at Colin's nether regions. Um...

In the early '90s, the survey box lady came to our house. We had a TV in the lounge, one in Mum an Dad's bedroom and one downstairs in the rumpus room. This disqualified us, as I think they ideally wanted only one telly per household, two at a stretch.
