  • Speaker: Copyright Must Change,

Another record company posts a good profit, mostly from publishing income and digital.

  • Hard News: Modern Lolz,

The stage was now set for the Alan Parsons Project, which I believe was some sort of hovercraft.

sadly I think we can blame someone closer to my soul than Denver for Parsons.

I belong to a couple of forums where folks adore him as Balearic . Mostly, I keep well silent. We can however point the finger at Parsons for opening the door to a whole genre of appalling faux operetta...him and Pete Townshend, who I can forgive.

  • Hard News: Modern Lolz,

unless you want to get verbally hammered

Ok, it's not a hammering, but see! :

    You didn't like Ep 5 Season 2?

Actually I saw much of Season 1 (about the only NZ thing you can find on TV here apart from Outrageous Fortune and that old show about dirty restaurants which would've completely confused many in this corner of the world) but kinda switched off after that, so I accept I may've missed the odd gem, but it just all seemed a bit lame to me.

  • Hard News: Modern Lolz,

He is mediocre critic and reviewer.

Often, yes but at least he's not afraid to go against the swell sometimes even if you want to slap him. His taste tends to veer towards the mainstream and what I'd consider the very mediocre but in that he does speak for a mass of buyers.

I'm more offended by how he says it rather than what he says..it's more suited to a space on blogger or wordpress where anyone, myself included, can burble on to our heart's content and make wild swings.

That said, I can't disagree with his take on Conchords. They didn't raise a smile with me...I just didn't get it, although I understood what I was supposed to get. And I've found it's not a smart thing to say in NZ unless you want to get verbally hammered.

But what would I know..I didn't get Seinfeld either

but I think if the MPAA is running seminars about 'ways to copy DVDs for teaching',

This was actually made to be shown to a committee of The Library Congress. I doubt it would make it past that given the widespread and almost universal mirth it's caused.

Then we have the hypocrisy angle

And there was I thinking that colleges were hotbeds of piracy

    Tad more expensive too...

There are literally hundreds of acres of screen space out there laughing about this...how to open your self to derision and damage one's case. I liked this quote

that's like typing up a quote from a book, taking it outside, chiseling the words in a rock, photographing the rock, scanning the photo, and running OCR on it

Ironically Colleges and Universities are allowed todigitally copy for educational purposes..it's just those evil primary and secondary teachers who can't.

    Idiots........
