  • Hard News: The Next Labour Leader,

I'm aware of the 'Waitakere Man' mythical voter-type (cf Essex Man in England) but wtf is Bowalley Rd all about and why 'back over' there?

[Apologies for being a thicko, but I'm a Waitakere Man and I can't help myself. Oh, no, that was 'Wino Man' - F Zappa...]

  • Hard News: The Next Labour Leader,

Russell, I'm afraid you'll need to explain this to me:

Waitakere Man is back over at Bowalley Road.

as I don't understand what it means, and as a Waitakere man I feel I should .

  • Capture: Colour is the new black, in reply to Islander,

We had a kereru break one of our windows earlier this year. Just one of the smaller ones, thankfully, but it gave my darling one hell of a fright & she was in shock for a couple of hours. Said she thought someone had taken a shot at her when the glass just exploded into the lounge.

Sadly, the kereru didn't live to tell the tale.

  • Hard News: Democracy Night, in reply to Christopher Dempsey,

the combination of consonants and vowel sounds in that word is 'unreadable' to me. Using different words (and hence different combination of consonants and vowel sounds) helps.

Hi Chris, this is interesting... is there a pattern to the types of words or syllables that are the most difficult for you to interpret; or can it depend on the speed, accent, etc that define the actual speech-pattern?
And is this type of hearing affliction relatively common?

(Apologies if this sounds trite or patronising - certainly not meant in such spirit.)

  • Hard News: Last Words,

A big vote ... of appreciation for some wonderful prose in the early afternoon by the likes of JamesW, Kracklite, DeepRed and some of Craig's perceptive and often non-partisan insights.

I want some of what you lot had for lunch!

    Voting tomorrow, after golf, for:
    Greens
    Sue Bradford *
    MMP
    STV
    subject to change

    * It is my belief that she would be one of the most approachable and committed electorate MPs when it comes to representing her constituents interests.

  • Muse: Indecision '11: Fighting the Grey,

Joe, your inaccurate and insulting portrayal of what actually appeared in my posts undermines your supposedly 'righteous indignation'.

It's a shame as I really enjoyed your 'Supplementary member' post on the other thread.

I won't be engaging with you further on this thread.

Yes, Joe, just like a Springboks tour cures all but the most obdurate and intentional racism.

  • Capture: Capture One,

I am impressed witht he speed at which you've got this sorted to use the '.JPG' extension.

A big "Well done!" to all involved.
