Good for you, Damian - for finishing and for sticking with you sister.

I've only just realised that, having been born in '64, I'm officially a baby boomer. That's scary, considering I have no money nor any of the benefits I'm supposed to have.

I refuse to believe there are people who both like The Jam and Leonard Cohen.
What tosh, uroskin. I like Mick Hucknall, and Phoenix Foundation. I like Elton John and Amp Fiddler. I like Bananrama and Cities of Foam. Shall I go on? It's called eclectic tastes . Not into music snobbery, me. I've said it before in this forum, and I'll say it again. Much like art, we all like what we like. And if we all stopped being so wanky and superior about other peoples' tastes, and just got on with enjoying our lives, we'd all be a bit better off.

I know you like him Jackie but Rod in his prime with The Faces was quite something - Western Springs, 1974, after two hours as Rob snapped his mike stand and grandly proffered 'Thank you for your time and your money as he strutted off' is one of my most cherished rock'n'roll memories]
Oh, don't worry, Simon. Rod used to be my boyfriend (well, imaginary, anyway). When I was at boarding school in Wellington, (I think the year was 78?) he was playing, and of course it was an R16 show, and of course I was 14 so I couldn't go, although that didn't stop some of my housemates. I was spewing. One of them told me there was a car outside waiting and it had Rod in it and I almost died of excitement. Yes, I was that gullible.

Lovely, V. Thanks for that. I had always thought Small Faces was the Rod Stewart one but that, of course was the Faces, formed by the members of Small Faces when Marriott left. Just by the by, I heard that the Faces are getting together to tour again. But with Mick Hucknall as the singer.

I have liked most of Weller's songs to a point, but his more experimental stuff that he's obviously made for the joy it it, not so much. I didn't want to go to his concerts solely because of that (well, that, and let's face it, I'm an 80's whore and a whole couple of hours of Style Council would have been orgasmic, and I knew he wouldn't do that, so oh well). I am enjoying the plethora of artists coming down here, and of course in summer, you get more locals touring. We're going to Phoenix Foundation, and that I'm looking forward to. Except the probably standing up bit. I'm not really into standing around at concerts, even if it's dancey music. I'd rather sit down and be comfy. But the Powerstation didn't do comfort in the old days, and I'm fairly sure that hasn't changed.

Yes, Ross, I am a CL Clark. Tom was my dad.

This is not a oneupmanship thing, Tony, but I would just like to remind all secondary and primary teachers that you are in a compulsory sector. If Tolley doesn't like you guys, just imagine how she feels about early childhood education. Just as well my decision to get into teaching was a political one, I guess.

Getting back to the shambles
Really? Do we have to? I can't imagine there's anything more to talk about, but then the whole subject bores me shitless. I'd rather talk about the fact that people are still being shot by hunters. Or that we are still killing each other in quite large numbers on our roads. Or any number of things. But then, that's just me.

Oh, oh. Saw a showing of Freemasons at a funeral on Friday. I wondered who all the men in the red blazers were, and lo and behold, when one of the speakers asked all the freemasons to stand up, they did. And by god, there were alot of them. Bear in mind, we were in St Mary's in Parnell which seats a shitload of people. And I would say about 40 men stood up. Very scary.
