And in a curiously apt turn of events, a man has passed out while talking to Glenn Beck, live on Fox:

Whaleoil's actually registered here, so there's the delightful possibility that he'll attend as himself.

He has previously declined to attend other blogger drinks on grounds of refusing to fraternise with "the enemy" (yeah, seriously ...), so I don't expect we'd be seeing him.

How lovely, Russell. I'll go if some other PAS womens' XV go. I'm just afraid I'll make a dick of myself otherwise.

Make what arrangements you need to Jackie, but I'm looking forward to meeting you. Don't let me down now ;-)

I do vaguely recall lots of people staying up really late to listen(?) to the Cavaliers games from South Africa.

The first rugby test match to be televised was
the England-Scotland match at Twickenham in 1938(!) and the first to feature the All Blacks was a match at Murrayfield in 1954.

I'm not sure when rugby first featured on NZ TV, but I do recall the arrival of live via-satellite TV broadcasts of offshore matches in, I think the early 70s. It was regarded as an amazing development.

Also, I wonder how many wingnuts are on the US no-fly list? My guess would be zero, despite their proven tendency to terrorism.

And this is what annoys me, and tempers my amusement at these people's absurdity.

There's a genuine history of violence, and even mass murder, in this fringe: Timothy McVeigh, Eric Rudolph, the Unabomber and the various thugs who attacked abortion clinics. They were all the same sort of people that Beck reaches out to.

  • Discussion: Regarding Auckland,

If by 'docile', you mean I'm not interested into buying into the mututally parasitic circle jerk of self-righteousness some sections of the left have with Master Slater, guilty as charged.

Are we going to have the lefty-bloggers-are-just-as-bad-the-right debate again?

Slater is an ass, and an unpleasant and frequently misogynist one. If Banks really is handing off attack-dog duties to him, it reflects poorly on Banks.

And there's some form here. Aaron Bhatnagar made repeated unethical use of Wikipedia to attack his opponents (and then tried to cover it up by deleting articles on election night), and, of course, after tut-tutting about Brian Nicolle and the infamous anti-Hubbard fliers, turned out to have PDFs of all the fliers on his own site. He still seems to have boundary issues.

Ironically, Oil has been fairly frothing about Gordon Brown's email to blogger scandal. He doesn't seem to perceive an irony. But I suppose that hasn't ever been his strong suit ...

Salon's new columnist The Wingnut, apparently a senior Republican operative, aims to explain conservatives to liberals who read Salon.

He's done Michelle Bachmann this week, but it's a bit lacking.

It's like he can't understand how people would really find her McCarthyist blathering and claims about secret "re-education camps" and world governments all that unusual.

He concludes it's really the liberal media's fault ...

Oh, Sam. I might like to look at lovely mens' bodies but I do not like being called a girl. Girlhood was a very long time ago.

How are you with "laddette"? No?
