Hard News: Democracy Night, in reply to
I see Craig has made the point
I am not suggesting that Chch peoples problems are something dreamed up by TV They are real and on-going and are going to effect us alI, I live close enough to Chch to know that only too well
I am just surprised that a media savvy person, who is well aware of spin would believe is that is the truth over the reality of voting patterns -
Had to have a quiet snigger at Brian Edwards on his blog saying he could not understand the swing against Labour in Christchurch because all the tv coverage suggested they (the people in Chch) were not happy with the Governments efforts
Don't believe everything you see on TV Brian

tThis really isn't good enough, Auckland
They know how it ends?
Maybe but I will being making the effort to see this.
We had to make a few deliveries around the city a couple of weeks ago, it is heart breaking to see what has gone and the damage to the infrastructure -
Legal Beagle: Election '11: the special votes, in reply to
Thank-you for clearing that up
Makes the specials a real lottery for those on close margins -
Yes, lets blame the voters for voting Green
I thought we had already played this game -
I think it is worth remembering that the MMP vote is only the Advance votes as the Referendum votes were not counted on the night
Advance votes, specials votes done before election day?
Could be interesting yet although I see my voting pattern was the majority one

How about we start a thread on how he doesn't talk like us!
Get your head around the fact that Key and the National party got a record majority, add Act and the Conservatives (who came out of no where) and it is outstanding
But the wheel turns and once the left really gets it head around what people want rather than telling then what they can have things will change and very quickly

3700 specials in Chch Central. Often go left but these will be made up of people who were shifted because of the quakes which may average it out
Going to be a nail biter and may end up on the toss of a coin, that is what they do if after all the recounts etc it is still equal -
What has gone on in the Chch seats, defies logic that some very strong local members seem to have been punished by the voters who stayed put
Interesting to see what the specials do -
I voted for the 15 time, not counting referendums (have a feeling there have been two of those) but for the first time in a slightly larger booth. All the rest were in country schools
Always a semi-serious day, doing my civil duty, get a bit dressed up and a chance to talk to neighbours as it was today And realising that there will be winners and losers and serious disappointment for some
It is worth remembering that life does go on and that all most all our politicians do the job because they want to improve all our lives
Laugh if you will but I say that as someone who is a life long swinging voter who has studied both sides of the equation
