  • Legal Beagle: It's (almost) never that simple,

So a taxpayer donation of Key's valuable time to Radio Live? I guess that's another angle...

Got to love the way lawyers minds work

  • Hard News: Staying Alive,

First rule of driving is that you must drive to the conditions, if it is foggy, wet, what ever you must be able to stop before you crash
If you do crash you have to have a very good explantion to not be charged with a careless driving charge or worse
So riding a bike, passing on the left, wet conditions and not watching for car doors opening suddenly is not a good position to be in, tragic for all concerned
Trouble is you are so more vulnerable on a bike and the only real way to fix this is dedicated bike lanes that are safe

I take no interest in what passes as pop music now I don't think it is written or played for me and can just imagine the huge cringe if some old bugger had expressed an interest in it when I was young

But I love Video Games, heard it first on the radio (natradio) and it was bang just like when the Beatles and the Stones arrived
So the "back story" is manufactured, what's new suckers! I

Great work Keith even thought it is depressing as the "Timaru Herald" is my local paper
One of their reporters often comments here, wonder if he has another theory on their slackness

  • Hard News: Nobody wanted #EQNZ for Christmas,

I have always believed the story about Paradise ducks mating for life but when one of a pair on our farm was killed (an accident that was partly my fault) a bunch of the opposite sex turned up quite quickly and a new mate picked.
Fortunatly this one was fertile unlike the dead one
I had thought rats had been stopping the breeding but that was also proved wrong

Felt the roll and just felt so sick because if we feel them this far away it is a fair sign it was a big one

  • OnPoint: Dear Labour Caucus,

Russell, a big thanks for this site and your pleasant moderation of it
Like others here I have over-stepped good manners on occassion while in debate so I really appreciate what you do and some of the pressures on you while you do do it

I hope you take time to rest or refuel this summer and of course if you travel South feel free to impose yourself on me

  • OnPoint: Dear Labour Caucus,

Good on the Greens for their slightly more dignified approach to Parliment, although I do wonder if it will be maintained now they have extra numbers, hope so

Regarding the Prime Minister, I think it depends on your shade of glasses on how his comments are regarded, I certainly do not remember an upset when Labours Cullen said
"We won, they lost, let’s do lunch”.
Which at the time was true but quite shocking

  • Legal Beagle: 14 Pages of Democracy, in reply to Craig Ranapia,

I agree and think it is great that the law follows the principal that it is people's intention that is important rather than what they did
"An orange heart" instead of a tick, I have a feeling I can guess who marked that paper

And while it is great a take-away vote gives citizens who cannot travel a vote I worry about who actually marks the paper
Whats to stop a party (blue or red take your pick) arranging this to their advantage
I do know Labour organises to get people out to vote, in fact boast about it
