well so long as the dealers made money, that's the main thing

Its not really that simple, since (back then anyway, less so now) most of what they played publicly was designed and produced to be played publicly.

twelve inches of wax. mostly produced and sold in the knowledge, indeed hope, that they would be played loud and often to as many people as possible. I guess my point is they were essentially pre-paid performance royalties.....

    Spiral Tribe.
    Orbital Hijinks.
    Goan beaches.
    Spanish coves.

And many of the "extras" were of course purchased well prior to the event, or from other suppliers within the event.....

for a lot of us it was more about creating a new peacefull world order via the magic of mdma of course......that worked out just like we all hoped.....

Side issue between Damian and myself

to be clear, i don't mind so much the side issue, or in fact robust-passioned-tangential debate here.

But I have no idea why you seem to be ranting in a threatening way at Damien about something he hasn't even done.

He got slightly burnt by a fire work close to midnight on new years eve. You seem furious at people who set off fireworks at random intervals through the night all through out the year.

I have no idea how you came to link the two....

Hey - I tell you what, next time you're at Abby's firing off crackers, I'll bring my terrified dog and my screaming children across and we'll see how much fun that is for you.

ummm, mark, i think you better go back and read the thread.....

Piracy, in terms of coffee shops and their employees is like ... you stay home and make your own coffee with these fancy new machines people sell that let you make good coffee at home; while ignoring the weird old law that says you have to pay some dude in a shop to do it for you, and even inviting your friends around for a cup.

except that with the coffee, it is YOU that are creating it......therefore you are not depriving the waitress of income any more than if you simply chose to go to another coffee shop....or buy a cola.

please do give my regards to wally and beaty too.

  • Hard News: About a Cat,

Cats understand English (and often other languages) but choose not to speak it.

    Rats too:

although they cant tell the difference between a person speaking Japanese backwards and a person speaking Dutch backwards.

__Linguistics – This Ig Nobel prize went to Juan Toro, Josep Trobalon, and Núria Sebastián-Gallés of the University of Barcelona for a paper titled "Effects of backward speech and speaker variability in language discrimination by rats". They found that rats could recognize the rhythmic differences between Dutch and Japanese sentences, but not if the words were replayed backwards (Journal of Experimental Psychology: Animal Behavior Processes, vol.31, p.95).

  • Hard News: Uniquely Refreshing,

Where, if not on Lorne Street, was Simple Cottage then?

High Street! (Not that I ever went there.)

As I recall, yes. Downstairs from where Vivace is now.

I'm pretty damn sure it was where metropolis is now.....or did it move there later in the game?

  • Radiation: Making a list,

Nungas, as in two tits, doesn't need an apostrophe. Unless the bar is owned by a Mr Nunga, but I highly doubt that's the case.

    very very nice.

  • Radiation: Making a list,

I have been pleasantly surprised at how good some of the subtext and language in Californication has been. There are some good writers having a lot of fun on this one. Its as close to Spider Jerusalem as TV could ever get....

As for Razor, look for the unrated version, which surfaced yesterday, its longer and flashier. I have been VERY patient waiting for it....

[soapbox/on] Of course if our local tv had the brains to get it on within a few weeks they may actually get more viewers.....[soapbox/off]
