I'm still wondering what happened to my own childhood box of Bunty, Tammy & June, Misty,my brother's Whizzer & Chips..
Oh lordy, if only I still had my original Whizzer & Chips #1, with the flip-book. I'd be rich!
I did love that comic.
and whether they really were all written in a castle, as the mailing address used to suggest (what was it, King's Tower or something? Probably some ghastly concrete block, but it sounded wildly romantic).
It would have been IPC Towers, a twin office hi-rise on the South Bank of the Thames, which is (was?) also home to NME.
Not a fairy kingdom castle, but not exactly ugly either.
Oops. I think I just shattered your childhood dreams ...

Russell -You must be a proud Dad. I love the way the abilities and creativity of our children sometimes/often surprise us.
What's nice is that it suggests that the fact that he's been out of school for two and a half years and basically dysfunctional there for three years before that might not matter too much.
Amazing, really.

Is it on this thread that the Wellingtonians of PAS should start to organise themselves a Great Blend proxy?
For sure. If you can organise something, I'll see if I can direct some sponsorship goodness your way.
Just don't ask me to do anything on top of the current two TV shows + Foo Camp + Webstock speech + Great Blend in the next 11 days ...

Sure thing, glad to help. Where is Foo being held this year ?
It might be easier to take this offline. My email is mikaere[dot]curtis[at]gmail[dot]comTa. Will do soon.

Signed by Alan Moore???! Well, my nerd spleen has just erupted all over my Marvelman collection. Did you meet the sage himself?
In the transitory fashion in which one "meets" one's heroes at a signing desk at a convention. He was well hairy.

Stop it, Russell. I'm trying to beta test the kinder, gentler 50% less bitchy me, and you're making it difficult. :)
I hear you can now purchase bitchiness offsets by being kind to children and animals, although the final shape of the Bitch Trading Scheme is yet to be determined.

This just in! John Key at the BGO in full!
It's rather more than half way before he gets loose, but as Christopher said, he gets there in the end.
-
Then amazingly, you could see him think - ahh fuck it. Let's get into it. Which he did. At that point, people really cheered
Ah. I heard that cheer on my way over. Thanks for the report, Christopher.

Is Kiwiblog broken for everyone else, or just me?

Even a meeting with a competent Chair benefits from having a karakia to begin/end it. There's something ineffable about all the participants stopping their chatter, and standing in silence whilst the karakia is recited. It's like we all inhabit a common mental node-point or something, which somehow lubricates the meeting.
And ending karakia seems to add a shared sense of closure, which I don't detect when the Chair simply declares the meeting over.
This sounds like excellent technology.
