__James we can all play the game of making shit up.__
Not to mention the fact that the market closed down, not up. So I think what our friend was trying to say is "market reacts badly at news of Obama election".
It was the biggest election-day market rally in decades -- and it can hardly have been because investors could somehow guess forthcoming late-night news that the Dems hadn't passed 60 in the Senate (as opposed to the reasonable guess that Obama was going to win on big turnouts).
It's hardly surprising it might drop a bit the following day. Honestly James, try reality. You might find it a pleasant change.

...or will he be the person he was for the entirety of his life prior to that point? A hard left activist who seemed to only associate with the most radical and dodgy of characters...
James, not for the first time, I'm wondering whether you actually believe what you say. Anyone with even a passing knowledge of Obama's career would know the above to be nonsense.
The problem with the Republican base really does seem to be a deep estrangement from reality.

Akamai's Net Usage Index for News set a new record today.
Biggest day ever for news websites, peaking at more than 8.5 million visitors per minute.
And that would seem to apply especially to Africa, where internet news traffic is running at 500% over normal levels.

That was a wonderful, composed, inspiring speech. I cried.
(I even forgave him for using "enormity" as a synonym for "magnitude".)

Does anyone know links to where Obama's victory speech can be viewed live?
The live feed at MSNBC is still working nicely, and their player goes full screen.

Franken is 250 votes behind, and Karl Rove himself just said he''l take it when the blue districts come in.
-
Wall Street rallies strongly at the news.

I see Franken-Coleman is still 42-42.

Interesting that AP (via 538) have called Florida for Obama some time ago, but CNN still haven't?
NBC has too. I think it's in the bag.

McCain is giving a really fine speech of concession.
