I don't think Russell would care for me to elaborate, and without his approval it would be uncool, and besides auntie jackie would only give me another stern lecture on how to behave in his house.

Thanks merc, but I'm not so sure I am, I don't very often and I'd have to say I'm a little surprised by russell's response, which drew out my response and so on.
I've been excessively patriotic for years but recently I've not been digging the vibe, or caring about fighting for the identity thing.

That's an interest result. apparently you do not have to supply copies if it is not produced in nz r as the overseas publisher is not governed by nzlaw, but the nat lib is required to acquire all works, by nz 'creative types' so are supposed to fork out for a copy.

no, the distributor sells the rental outlet a dvd/video for (say) $100 and the outlet can then make as much money as they can from renting it before the title is available for purchase thru retail.
so can a rental store go to the warehouse and buy cheap copies of the release dvd and rent them out with no recourse to the owner of the work?

I do rate your internet and media commentary highly and I do take issue with your music commentary. I don't mean that personally or maliciously. I just don't agree with your opinion or how you see music.
That's the nature of the critic I guess, you get empathy or enrage, at least you don't get indifference.I also think its bloody brilliant you're prepared to discuss it in a public forum you host, however much we might disagree. thats one advance in media technology that impresses.

What artists have they approached via Myspace do you know? I am actually curious as I would have expected to have heard something about it if they are approaching things in this way.
every artist I know, I know of over 40 personal. I think they do a search for music and location and hit everyone they find.
I guess you'd have to have new zealand and your city listed in your profile for them to be able to find you. -
