or become fashion designers, film-makers, musicians, etc..

So if you say something it's a fact, and if I do it's a hypothesis. Rob, you really need to get over yourself, and perhaps learn how to follow an argument before everyone here just stops engaging with you. It's hardly the first time.

If they like the house design, however, they can copy it. 99% of English suburbs follow that path.
And bloody Dannemora..

how many students are getting in hock to eat?
And how many of our less well off citizens would become students if they didn't face that prospect?

at the moment there is no reason or none that has been forwarded that is consistent with how we treat other property.
I think I've already more than adequately raised one difference - that creative capital is contributed by both creator and audience, a feature which I think you'll agree is less in evidence when it comes to baked beans and whiteware. Intellectual property is a subset of intellectual capital.

plates and arses in any form were and are not part of my intended discourse
However, can I recommend Emma's latest discussion starter:
All the current leaders of New Zealand's political parties are on a plane. It crashes into the Andes with no hope of rescue for weeks. Whose delicious corspe do you save for last?

Why should students be the only people tied to their parents until they are 25 financially?
Yep, always struck me as downright ridiculous.

Streetview is a fine idea, but a Streetview in time would be great.
There was a cool exhibition at the Auckland City Art Gallery about a decade back called "Panoramas of Auckland" which was a pre-digital version of that, featuring paintings back to the 18th century, photos and a film shot from one of the old trams.
Could see the main roads and farm homesteads, many of which are still here. The history of Orakei was really vivid, and I've been able to picture the pa ever since.
I thought at the time it would be cool if you could animate it for any part of the city, and see the transition from forest to farmland to suburb. I wonder if a history function is part of Streetview's design?

Steve, my apologies. I added that second post cos I realised I'd pushed your position a bit too far. Should have slept on it.
You'll notice the difference between saying "many" in your original post and "some" in the one above. I heard "many" as closer to "most", when perhaps you meant it as closer to "some".
That's all I was getting at - that the reality doesn't match the stereotype of widespread incompetence and helplessness. I'm not blaming you for that, as there's hardly any publicity about the true numbers.
-
Steve, I acknowledge your overall support but that post was about your assumption that "many" disabled people can't run their own lives.
