  • Radiation: Television hell,

Oh, and am I the only person who thinks Radiation is the weirdest blog ever on PAS? I mean really, it's Wednesday so here are the Wednesday listing highlights? Is this some sort of quota fulfilment in order to keep the free MySKY Fiona??

Sadly, nothing so Machiavellian. Unfortunately, real life, in other words, my job, keeps getting in the way of blogging and given the amount of reading I do around TV shows, the new format – with links – was supposed to be an attempt to somehow segue the two things, although it hasn't really worked out like that. I've just been tardy lately and I realise the links were a bit late. Must do better ...

I'm taking it as a compliment that you describe the blog as the weirdest. Nice!

  • Radiation: Wigging out,

Ah, stink. That's the info I was sent. I taped it too, but haven't had a chance to look. No point now.

  • Radiation: Wigging out,

Hi guys, have updated for Thursday and Friday and speculated on the identity of the Shortland Street kill-ah. Also, Flight of the Conchords starting Sep 17 on Prime, also the new local sitcom Welcome to Paradise.

  • Radiation: Back to the 80s,

You killed Aurora! You bastards! Quite shocking, actually. Is OF being taken in a much darker direction this season? Hmmm ...

Anyway, for those of you that asked, Prime is starting Doctor Who on the 19th, starting with the Christmas Special, "The Runaway Bride", which stars Catherine Tate and an unrecognisable Sarah Parish.

  • Radiation: Back to the 80s,

Well, my favourite moment on the box last weekend was the masturbatory advice talk by the uncle to the youngest son on Weeds.

Mine also, and if you missed it, someone on TV.com has lovingly transcribed it here. Brings new meaning to the name Pearl Jam.

Re Doctor Who and Torchwood, wouldn't have a clue, they always say "sometime later in the year". Yes, well, it would be wouldn't it? I wonder what they'll replace Primeval with however, as it's only six eps long and finishes August 15.

  • Radiation: Ghosts of television past,

Hmm, so votes for and against A Dog's Show. I think like anything nostalgic, it depends on how it sits in your memory, although when you see some of these programmes now, they are so slow. Whole plot lines in Mortimer's Patch consisted of someone making the tea. Also, movies. I've talked up my favourite movies (__Bladerunner__, Alien) to our number one son and when we sit down to watch them, embarrassingly, he just gets bored. The question is, is television giving us a shortened attention span (MTV generation, etc), or has the technology of television just caught up with the speed of human thought?

PS: Prime has said later in the year for Flight of the Conchords (it would make a perfect replacement for Extras, eh?). I suspect they have to wait until it has screened in the US before they have the rights to screen it here.

  • Radiation: Pathetic, not,

Eek, sorry, we have friends in America and are a little ahead on the Sopranos and I lose track slightly of where it's up to on NZ TV.

Forgot to also say that the Inside New Zealand SAS doco (Thursday on TV3) is quite good, although basically it just shows that guys who become SAS are well hard. It has a strange remove because you're not allowed to see their faces – unlike reality shows where all you see is the emotion on the faces.

Also Kidnapped is really good (Prime, Sunday night), but it might be a bit hard to catch up with what's happening. It's got a touch of the __24__s about it; Jeremy Sisto has a gorgeous computer assistant who cracks into secure computer systems while he's out in the field. Or at least it did last night.

  • Radiation: Crossing the line,

sometimes you've just got to stop with the foreplay and put out.

Actually, it seems you don't: Daniel Zalewski at Salon likes the delayed gratification of the Lost experience, "TV's first tantric narrative" apparently, which sounds vaguely masochistic.

  • Radiation: On the PVR,

Fee, did you mean Carly Flynn?

Probably I did; the bland, cheerful one. Call me old-fashioned, but all these girls changing their names when they get married seems odd to me. Unless you had a really dorky name and your new name is cool or something.

    12%??? I dream of 12%!

Nyah nyah, I just checked and our PVR is saying 35%! OMG! That's because there really has been absolutely nothing on the telly that I care to see, except Entourage and we've been actually catching up on those "look interesting" docos. Like Long Way Round, the one where Ewan MacGregor, my husband in another life (I'd change my name) and his mate Charley Boorman travel across Kazakhstan, Russia, Mongolia etc. Bloody fantastic.

  • Doves of War,

I've asked TV3, who say that Doves of War has been re-cut. Whether this is a good thing ...
