Hard News: Friday Music: The Sweetest Sound, in reply to
My article about the King’s Arms has just been published on Audioculture.
And a great article it is... cheers!
I can't boast that I frequented the place... But I did see the mentioned Lloyd Cole concert there... Considering his style of music, I was somewhat surprised to see Chris Knox in the audience....

I was keen to see Heed The Call live at the Hollywood Cinema…. been loving the bits I hear on BFM... but it’s out of the question…
I’m unsure if they are being overly ambitious, or if I’m simply out of touch with current “market prices” but $70 a ticket is too much for this suburban wage-slave and his wife….

Legal Beagle: A Small Official…, in reply to
They are skilled at thinking up reasons
Indeed… and it also occurs to me that if “the law” does not explicitly state “this information is public information that should be freely available” then it’s possibly secret by default?
Who’s going to “risk” sharing information they cant find a specific rule telling them to, if it could also risk their current or future employment?

Call me a dreamer... I would have thought if you made an OIA request to some government department or other...
If the answer came back starting...
You know, actually, this department isn't subject to OIA requirements...
It could also include...
But seeing as this seems like information that should be available, and we don't actually have a valid reason to hide it... here it is anyway...
??? Yep- dreamer.

Trump "Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?"
Perhaps, Mr Trump, it's because they are the only people who find living in the USA under Trump a better prospect that staying where they are?

Surely careless or reckless use of a deadly weapon that is likely to end in tragedy if not death, doesn't have to come under the Land Transport Act just because the weapon in question is shaped like a car?
I would hope a citizens arrest could be (legally) made on grounds that you believe death/carnage was highly likely from any cause?

1) Any advancement in this area is welcome, and should be applauded...
2) But really... how wilfully blind/ignorant do you have to be to make such a half step?
So, the terminally ill have a legal defence for using... but if their friends or family grow or supply it to them, they could still be in for prosecution? I guess these terminally ill people (possibly wheelchair bound or bed-ridden?) will have to grow it for themselves then?
I'm guessing most that are well enough to grow it, probably aren't allowed to use it? (ie. not in the last 12-months of their expected demise?)

BONUS: There’s also a $100 voucher for Rockefeller Oyster Bar, to be awarded at the judges’ dsicretion.
Completely not expecting to win… “dsicretion” might not make WOTY, but it might get me a prize at the judges discretion? :)
