Hard News: Where are all the polls at?, in reply to
Also, if I were running the process efficiently I’d expect my counting team to report their tallies at the end of each voting day
If you do that, the tallies could get leaked and influence people who haven't voted yet...
I don't like that idea... I don't even like the idea of countries with multiple time zones (Aus, USA, Canada) reporting results from earlier time zones before polls have closed in later ones...

Assumes person answering is telling the truth.
Of course... but even if it's a lie, it's not an opinion.

at any time on polling day before the close of the poll, conducts a public opinion poll in relation to the election
But surely an exit poll is not an opinion poll?
Q) Who would you like to win? A) Opinion
Q) Who do you think will win? A) Opinion
Q) Who did you vote for? A) Fact -
Hard News: Where are all the polls at?, in reply to
A nice feature is they actually talk about the limitations, however they fail to mention
They fail to mention that any predictions about the size of the party vote received by United Future based on previous results are unlikely to bear any relationship to what they may receive now that Mr Dunn has retired...
They used to get what? A few to ten thousand party votes? I'd be surprised if they get 300 this year?

Hard News: Friday Music: Remembering Roi, in reply to
go to that club located in Chase Plaza (as it was known) – I can’t remember the name of it, but you went up a travelator from the odd mid building forecourt, and the DJ booth overlooked the dancefloor.
Cactus Jack's! For at least some of the time it was open… the door-man was Richard O’Brian (who wrote “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” and appeared as Riff-Raff in the movie) some decades earlier.

Have you had one? It's essentially true... :D

Any word on if the cyclists (like me) can check out one or two of the over-passes at the Pt Chev end, as well as the tunnel itself?
Seeing the engineering work slow and up-close that you’ll only ever be able to speed past (or park in? :D ) later was definitely cool… but so would being up on a flyover and looking down….
I was, at first, somewhat miffed that we couldn’t walk all the way through…. but considering the monotony of the design… we saw enough that just seeing more of the same for another 2km would have been a little boring as well as taxing for some… So it probably wasn’t a bad option in the end…

Hard News: Drugs and why Dunne did it, in reply to
I don't follow this issue very closely but hasn't this been a massive slow u-turn by Peter Dunne?
I believe this comes under the heading of "when I'm presented with contrary evidence, I change my mind, what do you do?"

*Punk’s
Or perhaps it does mean 'Punks who are not dead'. That would work. Sorry. It has been a long week.t
Although getting super-nerdy is sort of anti-punk... I'll think you'll find there are probably whole thesis already written, explaining how the ethos of punk is counter establishment to a whole range of issues, including the norms of spelling, grammar, and punctuation.... :D

Electric Bazza, who provided the referenced article back a few pages on the differences between cadence and torque sensors, also has one explaining why regeneration is not really a goer on e-bikes. https://electricbikesnz.com/2016/10/29/the-myth-of-free-energy/
Another very useful article of his is the one explaining the NZ laws around e-bikes
