I seriously hope this wasn't any of our people ...

And on a happier note ... our Special Olympians are going great guns in China.
The half-million dollar cost of their trip to the games was largely covered by community fundraising.

Here's an amazing clip from the scene of the giant rugby ball in Paris, before, during and after Saturday night's game, which I am now seeing in a whole new light. It was posted by Bruce Ferguson, who directed the movie that screens on the inside of the ball:

__Actually, Stephen Jones is right, and we have to deal with it.__
Whoa, I wouldn't go that far. When you make the other team complete 173 tackles, you must be doing something right, and the other team is doing something simply enormous. Both teams have to be given credit (the French more so) for a classic game. Jones has often been found wanting in that department.
Jones isn't right. As usual, he lets his hatred for the All Black overwhelm any rational consideration of what actually happened in the game. And he's bragging about England's victory over France before the game's even been played. If there is a God, he'll make sure Jones has to eat his words next weekend.

Nice message for the All Blacks from Paul Waite at Haka.

The next day I got on the train to leave back for London. A customs official looked at my passport, and hung on to it. He glared at me and said "is no good!" I blanched, as you would. "Not after last night!" He chortled, patted me on the back and sent me on my way.
The French do seem like wonderfully generous victors. One of the correspondents on Morning Report today said he'd been approached by French fans apologising for dashing All Black dreams ...

There is only one person to blame for the loss.
Carl Hayman, or, whomever made him shave his beard."Divine retribution" people... "Divine retribution".
You know, that did occur to me quite early in the match...

And why, in such a tight game, did we not have a Sean Ftizpatrick or a Zinzan Brooke chipping away at the refferee to get us a critical penalty?
Good point. It's hard to imagine George Gregan failing to cajole one out of the ref in such circumstances.

Wow. Another thriller. Wouldn't a France-Argentina rematch in the final be great?

The NZRFU has to now sit down and work out if we want to be the Harlem Globetrotters of international rugby or if we want to be the RWC champions. We can't be both. Personally, I would like the All Blacks to be world champions not world clowns.
And yet half the commentariat is lamenting the fact that they didn't throw it around enough. There was nothing soft about the forward effort, was there?
