  • Busytown: It's not you, it's me,

    Hey girl!

Nice post. Stephen Fry's blog is priceless, but astonishingly long. Was he on a manic episode or something?

And Myanmar/Burma .. I've collected sets of links a couple of times in the past week, and not been sure where to go with them.

But again, the internet (and mobile communications) have played a remarkable role -- to the extent that the generals felt it necessary to yank the whole country'si internet. Interestingly, the Burmese are not prevented from running satellite dishes or, on most days, using the internet -- so they do know what everyone else is saying.

I suspect brutality is the only thing that keeps the generals from being revealed as buffoons.

  • Hard News: Ten Times Warmer,

Ahhh man that sucks - was a truley good show (sorry don't mean to rub it in). Not quite as good as Sonic Youth playing at the St James (before the renovations) on their "Dirty" tour with the Dead C opening (favorite overhead conversation from that gig was, "man these roadies are better than most bands I see!").

Could someone who knows the Dead C pass that one on? I think they'd enjoy it.

  • Hard News: Ten Times Warmer,

It was quite the best mind-scrambler I've encountered for some time...thanks Russell!

Sounds like you're with me -- I can hold the idea in my head, but I get dizzy about what it means ...

Basically, the universe(s) is/are stranger and more complex and beautiful than we can imagine.

  • Hard News: Ten Times Warmer,

Hmm who do I believe, Keith "pol pot" Locke or Helen "the Yanks are buggin my phone" Clark? This is a really hard one...

Dammit, you're right. The war's been over for years. All those people dying is just damned carelessness.

  • Speaker: God is in the numbers,

The Australians looked pretty impressive in those statistics, especially their defensive lineout (We should totally get us one of those. Who cares about our scrum if we keep dropping the ball and can't kick it out?)

Or don't kick it out. There's no stat for it, but I think the All Blacks looked like the best kick-chasing team in the competition.

Speaking of stats, I'm really missing Tracey Nelson's game stats. I wanna know the first three to the breakdown!

But she's without her VCR (yep, she uses tape) and having far too good a time over there anyway.

No offence KM, but that is utter, utter rubbish.
If a bloody Twickers crowd can chant “Allez Bleu” non-stop throughout the 2nd half in 1999, the Welsh shouldn’t find it too much of challenge following suit.
When will people realise the All Blacks can come across as arrogant to northern hemisphere audiences?

But any fool could have seen months ago that this is one game where the All Blacks would definitely be playing -- I suspect there will be a lot of expat Kiwis with tickets.

"The war in Iraq is over! According to John Key"

2007 will almost certainly be the worst year yet for US military deaths in Iraq. Should someone tell Mr Key?

  • Hard News: Connecting the Box,

    This just in ...

Seems the rugby really does look better on Freeview.

TV3 is using its own satellite capacity to deliver the signal via Freeview -- pretty much all of it.

Meanwhile, Sky's stream of TV3 is its usual squeezed-up self.

You are Paul Campbell, and I claim my prize ...
