    Thinking of the rather delicate legal privilage that journalists currently enjoy to not give up their informants, might this be a good time for the pollies to knock that on the head with regulations which could lead to no one being able to put any light on the murky shadows

    Does anybody have a figure for the number of civil unions that have ended in divorce, I seem to remember that it is quite high
    I do know that there were 273 civil unions (73% same sex) last year compared with 2100 marriages
    Personally I don't see why there is such a drive for marriage but can't see why anybody who want to marry (in the eyes of the law) can't go ahead and do it

    While I can see the justice of taxing capital gains I am not so sure about governments taxing inflation that they have helped create

    Different girls each night?, Different outfits (often yellow, I get that, sort of) and where do the girls come from, who picks them?

    Whereas I don't really feel represented in NZ at all as I am centrist on economic issues while highly liberal on social matters. And I feel that no party in NZ really represents my views.

    Likewise, hopefully with a lower threshold there could a splitting of the parties into units we could vote for but then they would have to gather into coalitions to govern so would we be better off

    It seems obvious that a low threshold would lead to more parties, possibly single issue parties but is that a bad thing for democracy
    I can see how it could be bad for stability but surely dis-enfranchising citizens is worse?
