  • Busytown: Holiday reading lust,

I find it interesting because you are starting to touch on the notion of quality.

Quality. Now there's a novel idea [sic]. We could establish an ISO 9001:2008 (updated) Standards Approved definition by Genre, complete with Scope and Terms of Reference. Then we could conduct annual surveillance audits, for the purposes of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), to see if certain literary Canon stack up [sic], or whether we need to issue a Non-Conformance Report (NCR), with the commentator over-dub which says 'You're out!' or 'You're in!', as the mood takes them, and strangely in a German accent.

    Any objections?

  • Busytown: Holiday reading lust,

Maybe we need a thread entitled 'Sci-Fi is for bunnies' and PL and the Marionettes can go at it unencumbered for days, weeks even. Oh, they are already.

Shit a brick, who bloody cares. How about we carry on reading books, and those who prefer Architecture Porn (which I quite like also, as it happens) go and froth over some Corbusier, and the baiters who seem to enjoy stoking the fire sit on their hands for a bit (me included I suppose).

This has turned one of the loveliest threads into a pee soup, and I'm seriously regretting dragging it back from the bottom of the list. Sorry Jolisa.

  • Radiation: Big bang theory,

Just caught Breaking Bad. Quite compelling, in a weird sort of way, and having missed the proceeding stuff, that's a good thing. Having watched The Wackness on Rialto recently, I can't help making comparisons, at least in this episode. But the bad-arse gangs in need of a psychologist in the movie were far less threatening than those in BB. Lambs to the slaughter is all I could think about.

Oh, and back to the Cheerleaders, did anyone else notice the promo for Bring it on - In it to win it where a tough little love grabbed the fence and said 'let the disembowelling begin'. Umm, what?

  • Radiation: Big bang theory,

@RB It's a fast moving thread, but you caught my attention, in spite of the Beyonce Bubble in the middle.

Increasingly, I think of people being neurologically diverse, rather than a diagnostic checklist.

In an ideal world, this would be the basis for educational, victim support and health decision making, because the track record of the 'diagnostic checklist' is not great. In many cases, it seems, the lack or presence of 'a label' either restricts access to care, or limits the support to a narrowly defined scope. And the statistics often seem to be part of the problem, rather than the solution, IMhO.

Your openness is greatly appreciated, BTW.

  • Radiation: Big bang theory,

Fair enough, your wayward use of the possessive just made me want to be clear on the subject.

Sorry about that. This rolling discourse is like a fast moving train sometimes.

    Who's got a pendant? I didn't know about those.

  • Radiation: Big bang theory,

I'd just like to take a moment to disassociate myself from any implication that I approve, endorse, condone, or otherwise am willing to be placed in the same room as this work.

I think that was well understood, or at least assumed on my part. My concern was the potential for another descent into a cluster of Sci-Fi anti-matter. And since Kyle is here, if you could position the Death Star, it may come in handy once the Klingon Deniers Association gets wind of it.

Alien Lizard, you are quite simply brilliant. And here I was thinking I was being too subtitle, but clearly not subtitle enough ;-)

Phew! So my distraction from Lucy's "Why Women And Gays Have Ruined Sci-Fi" worked.

    D'oh!
