  • Radiation: Big bang theory,

first heard on Glee (cough Single Ladies cough)

Fortunately for all of humanity Sony has removed the mash up of Single Ladies with the Birdy Song over-dub from YouTube. Otherwise I'd be posting that right about ..... here >>>

  • Radiation: Big bang theory,

It's his dorky attraction to the frightening, punk-y alternative girl and his performance with Hugh Grant that gets him ahead in life.

Perhaps this is the message all these programmes are trying to express to the 'fringe' elements who didn't make the Cheerleading team, or first fifteen, and who sat in the lighting booth watching all the 'talent' do their thing, while wondering if you could get some pay back by putting the lights up on the wrong side of the stage.

    Speaking hypothetically, of course.

What seems the moral of the story (s) is to not let your insecurities stop you from doing the things that make you feel insecure. Think I'll put that on a T-shirt.

  • Radiation: Big bang theory,

Take home message: only by conforming can you be happy.

And hence we are surrounded by happy nonconformists. Perhaps that should have been a question? Where's that irony tag when you need it?

  • Random Play: He bangs the drum,

After seeing Keith Le Blanc play the Power Station with Tackhead, including two drum kits, and a touch pad programmable drum machine, which he did live, before playing his two kits, all else seems somewhat mediocre, IMhO.

And I'm sure looking forward to the drumming during the Echo and The Bunnymen set next week at Laneways. Pete De freitas, who died at 27 in a car accident, will be sorely missed.

  • Radiation: Big bang theory,

Not because I think being an Aspie is some repulsive mark of Cain, but because we really don't need another way in pop culture to turn social outsiders into pathological cases who can be explained away with lashings of pseudo-medical jargon. Do we?

    Seconded.

"mannish women" were portrayed back in the day when the L-word was unspeakable, even on basic cable.

    In my initial post mark 15, redacted, I quoted Jane from the link above saying of her role in A Mighty Wind;

"I couldn't wait to get the fake tan and push-up bra off at the end of the day... but it did kind of open up a femininity in me, if you will"

She seems fairly well in touch with her own irony.

  • Radiation: Big bang theory,

    Wait: Melissa Etheridge is gay?

I know! Next they'll be outing Ellen DeGeneres.

Jane Lynch talks about Glee and what makes her comedy tick.

  • Radiation: Big bang theory,

Modern Family started well, I thought, and I managed some genuine belly laughs. Then the dad got going, and it was funny for a minute, and then he was like the cringe who stole Christmas. Still, see how it develops. Saved a bit when he shot himself in the foot.

Save the cheerleader, save the world? What kills Glee for me, apart from excessive hamminess at times, is the auto-tune over-dub. Can't sing? Don't.

  • Busytown: Holiday reading lust,

Groan! Flaming philistines. Next we'll be stewing rabbits. Oh, we did that already. Maybe I'll ditch all my books and go read The Myth of Sysiphus.

PS Paul, that wasn't really directed at you. You didn't bring it up again, after all.
