Bear in mind this is a man who advocates the forced sterilisation of DPB recipients.

It just seems like the entire membership is Roger Kerr and a couple of PR flacks.
Not quite. They even have a woman!

I'm not optimistic about any real change occurring in relation to the taxation treatment of investment property. Especially when John Key recently indicated it would take a lot to convince him of the need for a capital gains tax.
And any CGT would be a blunt instrument, and would probably have only limited effect. It's probably still worth doing - anything to discourage property speculation.
If the Nats are serious about using tax policy to encourage growth in productive areas of the economy, they could bring back the R&D tax credit. Given the lack of vision so far displayed by them, however, that's unlikely.
Possibly the biggest factor affecting our ability to grow the economy is the dollar. Its instability makes it difficult for people to make sensible financial decisions. No wonder sticking it in property seems the safer option.
And there's got to be something wrong with our system when the NZ dollar is one of the top ten traded currencies and when our politicians just shrug their shoulders and says there's nothing they can do about it. I'm not one of them high-falutin' economicians, but isn't there something we can do?

Paul, could you provide some proof that it's a company? There's no Sanitarium Limited listed with the Companies Office, or indeed any company with Sanitarium in its name. The Sanitarium NZ website makes no references to the structure that's used.
Sanitarium is a trading name. The company is called The New Zealand Health Associtation Limited, which is in turn owned by The New Zealand Conference Association, a charitable trust.

Labour just need to be patient and wait it out, simple as that. Sooner or later, the public will tire of National, some Nat MP will make a big, unpalatable boo-boo, but who knows when.
I suspect that unless Labour provides us with an alternative vision, "sooner or later" might be 9 or 12 years away.
They could start by being an actual oppositon, and not kowtowing to the law and order mob. And they may need to find a leader who resonates with the centre-left. I'm sure Goff's a lovely chap and very capable, but the poll results would suggest he does not excite the voters.
Sure, a lot can happen in the next two years. But my guess is the voters won't dump Key and co unless Labour convinces them Labour can do a better job. Waiting it out doesn't seem a good option, unless they're already resigned to failure next election.

I'm very seriously thinking about casting my next party vote for the Greens or the Maori Party.
Despite many of the policies of the Greens being plain barmy, I'll give them one thing: at least they stand up for what they believe. I wish I could say the same thing about Labour.
Labour has done a pretty poor job in opposition, and appears perfectly happy to hand to the law and order mob everything they want. With Goff in charge you have to ask yourself why would you bother voting for them? They're just National-Lite. it's no wonder they're languishing in the polls.
I'm wondering why I bothered voting Labour in the last election.

I'm using a Blueant Supertooth 3 which works well for answering, especially with the phone in a bracket. The iPhone interface for switching between iPhone / iPhone Speaker / Blueant is nicely done and easy to use with the phone handy in the bracket.
I bought the same Blueant model and it works pretty well and is easy to use. It attaches to the sun-visor. At about $180 it's reasonably priced. My wife and I did a bit of research on the best buys and it appears to have the most features and the best reviews for products of about that price range.

Enjoy, but I'd recommend not doing it on a full stomach.
You couldn't have said that at the start of your post? Man, I just ate!

And rather than clarifying your point, you undermined it by trivialising the deaths and suffering of millions of people.
I'm sorry if you read my comments in that light, and it was certainly not my intention to offend anyone.
But I also think you're reading into my words a meaning I did not intend.
So not just welcoming the representatives of apartheid-era South Africa, but paying to watch a teamful of known torturers would be fine as long as they played well.
Funny, I don't remember arguing that. Has someone been editing my posts?
But this doesn’t make you a evil bastard, just an insensitive one.
Alternatively, you're just constructing a series of straw men.

please reflect.
I will if you refrain from the patronising BS.
The point I was making is really not such a controversial one. And you seem to have misunderstood the point.
Something can be morally wrong while still being impressive from a technical perspective. Take the Nazi Blitzkrieg tactics. They were applied on behalf of a reprehensible regime, and yet as far as military experts are concerned (given that their focus is on how effective tactics are in smashing an enemy force) technically impressive.
One can admit that without endorsing anything the Nazis did.
