If it came to light that the Australian cricket establishment had been methodically slaughtering aboriginal people and selling their organs to fund their operation perhaps your admiration might be a little tempered.
But I could still admire a good cover drive even if the person making the shot was a monster.
It is possible to admire someone's technical proficiency without admiring the person or what they stand for.

What astonishes me about the Illuminati is how they control everything except Internet.
No, They control that too. All the stuff on the internet is what They want you to see.
Wake up you sheeple!

I didn't find any of the recent posts inappropriate. Admiring the achievements of a group of people from a military or economic point of view is hardly the same thing as offering support to them.
I for one think that the Nazis were appalling people, and that those who escaped hanging at Nuremberg (Speer included) were very lucky indeed.
However, for all that Speer was probably still a genius - an evil one, as Ben says.
And from a military perspective the German tactics in WWII were truly impressive - in that they smashed their enemies to bits in ways that had not before been dreamed of.
It's like watching the Australian cricketers. I can admire the way Ricky Ponting carves up our bowling attack almost every time we play Australia. But I'd sooner die than support the Aussie team.

2001 I cast my eyes over those books.
You have my sympathies.

And on a slight tangent to matters conspiratorial, I'm a big fan of The Dim-Post, but seriously Danyl: W. T. F?
Indeed. I loved George D's comment:
Danyl, I’m glad you’ve got back to writing satire.

Rather than having a piss-up a with a blogger to prematurely celebrate a "political victory", the Maori Party might be well advised to look to the Act Party for lessons in how to exercise leverage as a minority support party. Because they got dicked, again.
But National is closer ideologically to Act than to the Maori Party.
Key and co probably won't be too upset if Act "forces" them to move towards privatising ACC, for example.

Only two hookers?
And injury prone ones at that. Don't they usually take three on tours like this?
Otherwise the team looks about right.
I'm utterly baffled by the coaching change though.

Sean Plukett's blustering and bullying is ever more frequently on display, with less and less lucid moments - his shouting down of Karl Anderson this morning but one example.
He was pretty rude to the woman from the teachers union this morning too, although she handled him pretty well. He is good when he is eviscerating two-faced politicians and their weasel words, but sometimes he comes across as a bully.
I like Checkpoint's Mary Wilson. She's persistent without being rude.

And then what?
If you've being asked to facilitate conduct that might ultimately (as some have suggested) amount to comtempt of parliament, I don't think the Law Society will take too dim a view of your refusing to act.

Lawyers are obliged to act in their clients' interests so I can't blame Carter Ruck for trying, but I LOVE the response they got. KA-BOOM!
Arguably lawyers are also obliged to tell their client they're being a dick.
Given the negative publicity to Carter-Ruck's business, I'm sure they could have found a way not to be involved with this.
