This kinda fits with the other thread on insurance companies really ...

Southerly: Tower Insurance Have Some Bad…, in reply to
It might indeed. I've moved one house before, and it is quite incredible what can be done, well worth the inquiry. I had mine cut in half right down the middle so that it could be taken down a narrow driveway to the subdivided section I had purchased. The machines used and the skills of the operators were amazing, to say the least.
My family home (parents still live in it), was an old house/church in New Lynn that they had shifted out to Waitakere 30+ years ago. It too was cut in half to make the journey and then sent down a bank and joined together again. If you saw the site you'd think HTF?!
Definately an option. The folk that move them are fairly imaginative and used to putting square pegs through round holes.

Hard News: The Political Lie, in reply to
I would very much like to see an interviewer persist with the requirement for a 'yes' or 'no' answer.
I remember Peters repeatedly being asked "Yes" or "No"? and he would make a great game of choosing neither and merely stating his opinion which was more often than not nothing to do with the question. If he was really stuck he would just have a go at the questioner.

You mean like promising ultra fast broadband in an election, but not mentioning that many of you outside Auckland might not actually see for at least a decade?
I'm at a school in Auckland and we have a broadband connection for 2,400 students and 200 staff. Emphasis on "a". That's right. ONE broadband connection for the entire school. And all options have been explored regarding sorting it out and we're stuck with what we've got. Forget trying to stream anything, download anything, hell have a cuppa while you wait for your emails to open or send.

Hard News: Friday Fever, in reply to
So many kids at school asked me if we were going to die this weekend.
I replied that yes we were and they may as well give me all their money since they won't be needing it anymore.

Something a bit louder and 'energetic' for your Friday. Maybe after a few beverages. At the Drive In Live in one of the Aussie Big Day Out's in 1991. Check out the footwork. Rene Ranger and the Rok would be happy with it.

Hard News: Budget 2011: While you wait, in reply to
I'm quite happy to buy the retort from Federated Farmers that farmers do actually have low net incomes once debt servicing is taken into account. They're running a business (a proper business, not just being residential landlords), and I have no problem with them deducting mortgage interest against income as an expense.
I'm going to deduct my mortgage interest against my income as an expense too. I'm also going to deduct my petrol bill as I drive to and from work as expenses, along with the clothes I have to purchase for work, and food I need to eat in order to be able to carry out the functions of my job.
Unless of course I'm not allowed to live by the same rules of others.

I heard that mentioned on radio yesterday but they don't really qualify for the Halbergs in the sense that they aren't representing New Zealand. Forget the "New Zealand" in the name, that's obviously for marketing purposes like the NZ Warriors. But we have a New Zealand basketball team already called the Tall Blacks and they would be the only male basketball team that could win that award unless one of our NBL teams had some kind of astonishing, one in a thousand season beating everybody by 50 points. Even then they would be ignored as it isn't rowing or some football team coming 20th.

Well this thread didn't exactly capture the imagination!
Congratulations Breakers. A totally deserved win. They ended up with a 26 win, 8 loss record on the season which is pretty remarkable in a competition with a salary cap. I probably shouldn't mention those words since the ANBL is doing an audit of all 4 teams who made the playoffs. First one they have done in many years.
If they can hold that team together there is no reason why they can't go back to back. Just a matter of keeping the hunger. I know certain basketball followers who will also be thinking that the side will be MUCH better off with Henare gone. Went out on a perfect note though and good luck to him.
