You could never accuse Paul Waite of not being passionate.

Perhaps that is (and I'm only speaking for myself here) the sad sad truth about the oversell and over-promise of last years RWC cosmic joke. Losing doesn't hurt as much
When the NZRU gives us 12 tests in a season the chances of going through unbeaten are nigh on impossible. How about they stop treating fans and players like cash cows and think strategically about how to run their sport? Fewer matches, but of more value might be a start.
(And we can tell some of our NH opponents that if they don't want to send a top team, don't bother coming)

To be fair Craig, your examples all depict Thatcher in positions of power & authority, something she was never accused of lacking. It demonstrates at least a degree of respect for the woman.
Steve Bell routinely depicted Bush & Blair as the Chimp with his lapdog - the unintelligent with the unimportant. Little in the way of respect there!

reminds me of that meme where you put your digital music player of choice on shuffle and count how many songs until you get to one that would see you out of the running for PM.
Eight songs in - Cock in My Pocket by The Stooges. Another victory for eMusic.

Deborah, I get it now, but the wiki says it better than me:
Some of the more devoted fans of Niven and Pournelle will sometimes slip into this metaphor in regular speech, often resulting in some confusion for the listener. The abbreviation OTGH, modeled on OTOH, is also used in some SF discussion groups.

jojo, what's a small fact? Inquiring minds need too know!

Another thing I've noticed about the pathology of the rhetorical coprophilie is now rancid they get when their own conduct is pointed out to them.
Craig, is that a difficult mirror to look into, or is Stephen Jones correct when he says NZers are a people even more devoid of irony than Americans?

Bzzt! It's an actual description, especially since Douglas adopted it with his "blitzkreig principles".
Dang, this game is harder to play than Numberwang

Is Thatcher dead?
It will be a happy happy day when we can answer that question in the affirmative.

Now we're talking. I raise you "Rogernomics" and "Revolution".
I'll throw in "blitzkrieg". Originally pejorative when used by Easton, Douglas was quite proud of it though.
