Aligator Po'boy - basically a filled roll
It should be noted that the last poboy I ate bore only the vaguest of resemblances to a fillled roll, in that there was bread with stuff inside it, but none of the fillings were in any way healthy. Deep fried shrimp and oysters!
Speaking of things with shells, I am also a little bitter because it's coming up to high crawfish season in the American south right now. I have had years on end without crawfish. There should be a law against that. (Can you get them couriered, I wonder? Imagine explaining it to NZ customs. 'You see, there's no chance of me ruining our ecosystem: I want to boil them alive with several different kinds of pepper and some corn on the cob.')

You know what's pretty good? Alligator.

The demonising of men over the last 30 to 40 years has done a lot of damage to society.
This from someone who uses the word 'slut' seriously. Heh.

WANT!!!
Bwah! I don't know who that is, but I do not believe it is Obama.
I love the one of him facing off with Darth Vader, though. 'Mr Cheney? Is that you under there?'

What is with the 'man-hating women' thing, Chuck? No one is brandishing the SCUM manifesto at you, for goodness' sake.

TDS breathed oxygen from the absurdities of the Bush years.
I remember the show being pretty funny pre-Bush, too - although I came in around 1999, which I suppose was at the height of Clintonblowjoborama, segueing nicely into the 2000 election campaign. Hrm. We'll see.
At least Colbert will still have buckets of material, since his job is to pretend to be a liberal-hating blowhard...
Note: woke up this morning, looked at the New York Times site, and saw a photo of Obama sitting behind the desk in the oval office, taking a call. You mean he actually gets to be president now? Holy crap. :)

Naan-hating women. Heh.
You know what I blame for this whole mess? Roti. And don't even talk to me about paratha. I don't care how many delicious cheeses you put inside: stuffed bread of any kind is clearly a tool of the patriarchy.

luncheon sausage
Wait. I have always called it luncheon sausage. What are we Dorklanders meant to call it?

Obama lauded Vietnam
I felt that he was honouring the servicepeople rather than the war. No?
Part of the nation's ongoing inability to adapt is the wallowing belief in this sort of bullshit.
True. It frustrates me too. I spend a lot of time yelling at the telly. But saying 'we actually have to act decently rather than just pretending we can do whatever we want' is leaps and bounds ahead of the last guy, surely?
I just watched a clip of Beyonce singing 'At Last' for the Obamas' first dance at the inaugural ball. Sweet, and resonant on a few levels.

it makes a ton of assumptions that I find totally unacceptable
Teh Wimminz, with their sneaky mind-fu! They will manipulate you into acting crazy with their feminine wiles! You are a simple-minded male, and you cannot handle their trickery!
Stuff like that, you mean?
