But bugger me, can we not have a GOOD serious choice for mayor, just once?
-
Well, I finally did it. I read everything everybody had to say. I weighed it all up very carefully.........and then I voted for all the young, and not so young, lefty ecowarrior people (excluding Bob Tizard who's not young nor is he a hippy, but he's a stubborn old man so I'm hoping he gets to have some good fisticuffs with Wayne Brown on the ADHB)

and of course it goes without saying that politics are not all about left and right, and sticking to only one or t'other - to show that I understand the principles of this I'll tell you a secret, but you aren't to tell anyone else. I used to vote for Christine Fletcher when she was MP for Mt Eden. I know, I can't believe it either.

Lordy, the 2008 general election can't come soon enough.
You can't really tell me you're going to vote for Key, Craig. Please. I don't know if you are going to or not, that's a purely personal matter of course, and no-one else's business. Having said all that though, I would just say this. Sometimes, women look at gay men (in a purely shallow way) and say "what a waste". I'd say that about your politics. You are so witty, so intelligent, so interesting, and I respect your opinions on so many things. Why can't you be a lefty? I'd vote for you if you were standing in local elections..........

I like to think we're only invisible to people who are too lazy to read beyond our age or appearance. And they're people I don't really want to know anyway. Scratch the surface of most middleaged women and there's someone who's got a very interesting story, I've always thought.

lovely, lovely story, dyan - and well told.

Nobody likes a smartarse. But seriously. No, that's it. Nobody likes a smartarse. ;)
are you saying you're a nobody?
I don't know how to deal with that...I'm a nobody indeed. Over 40, fat and female. Makes me invisible. Well done, witty one.

I wet myself watching this clip on Utoob. (nb on the comment "what the fuck is fred savage doing here?") This clip explained (to me) why FOTC was able to find an audience in America.
That's some sick shit. But funny. Which leads me to the conclusion that the theory that there are two Americas is entirely correct.

yeah, quite a few, infact any country with a small population base really, but you'd have to interact with the legends of those particular countries.
Nobody likes a smartarse. But seriously. No, that's it. Nobody likes a smartarse. ;)
As for celebrity encounters, mine are either all local except for the time when I got Tiny Tim's autograph. -
This is why I love that this wondrous country is my home. Are there many other places in the world where you could freely interact and have discourse with a legend? I think not. Haere mai ki a Aotearoa, my peeps.
